1. Rand was a hypocrite; she accepted money from entitlement programs near her end. No. She practiced what she preached. She objected to the taking by force of her money in the first place, once taken she was exacting the fair exchange she was due. 2. Objectivists are selfish, greedy and lack compassion for others. Not so! Many give money and time to charities and in return receive satisfaction from the deed. Many provide jobs and opportunity for others through their own creativity. Self- interest is not greed it is exchanging/ trading value for value. Demanding something from you without offering fair exchange is greed. Who is the more greedy, he who wishes the fruit of your labor or you who labored for the fruit? 3. Objectivists don’t believe in equality, they are only interested in their bank accounts at the expense of others. Wrong, Objectivists believe in equal opportunity realizing like our founders, this is the only just system. Men should be equal under the law, but they are not equal in aptitude. Systems of equal outcome are not just or sustainable because the drive to succeed is obliterated by extortion of egalitarianism. When producers don’t profit from over-production, they produce no more than necessary. When people can live better here on government largess than most working in other lands, we have created the tools of our destruction, a magnet for mediocrity and malaise.4. Objectivism is a cult. Nonsense, objectivists do not venerate Ms. Rand, they recognize her as fallible. There are no cultish ceremonies or organized rituals. They extol her ideas because they express opinions already held. Rational objective reasoning is not unorthodox or spurious. Reason is not devotion to a literary or intellectual fad. End pt.1

Good to hear from you Robbie53024,
That would be quite a pleasant surprise considering Michigan’s recent history, but it is possible if the polls are accurate. I just wish there was a better viable alternative. Four more years of what we have now I fear will finish this state economically.
      Regards,
      O.A.

      Hello mccannon01,

It is good to speak with you again. I was hoping this entry would clarify and refute some of the common mischaracterizations. I am sure there are some more we should tackle if anyone wishes to contribute. I had a much more eloquent/ structured piece written, but the 2500 word limit left me with little choice but to break it down to bare bones. As it was you see I had to enter it as two parts.
      Best wishes,
      O.A.

Pt.2 5. Proponents are elitists and don’t care about others, looking down on the common laborer. No. Everyone doing honest work deserves equitable return and there is honor in any profession except those that exact by force unearned remuneration. 6. Disapproval of wasteful entitlements makes you a racist. Racism is the most abhorrent form of tribalism. It is the small minded bigot that doesn’t allow for the greatness of the individual, pigeon-holing all by race. “The smallest minority on earth is the individual. Those who deny individual rights cannot claim to be defenders of minorities.” Ayn Rand 7. You are unwilling to pay your “fair” share to the community to which you owe your success. Successful people pay their share of taxes to support the infrastructure and derive no more benefit than the poor. They do not have better roads, police or firemen. The essential question to ask all who advocate more government taxation, and re-distribution is “at whose expense?” “It only stands to reason that where there's sacrifice, there's someone collecting the sacrificial offerings. Where there's service, there is someone being served. The man who speaks to you of sacrifice is speaking of slaves and masters, and intends to be the master.” Ayn Rand “Reason is not automatic. Those who deny it cannot be conquered by it. Don’t count on them. Leave them alone.” Ayn Rand Regards, O.A.
