The Left is doing what they’re accusing non-leftists of doing.

Excerpt:
"In brief, hypocrisy reflects on one's own behavior while projection concerns oneself and one's behavior towards others.

It would be hypocritical for person (A) who frequently rolls past stop signs to say that person (B) should always observe stop signs. It would be projection for person (A) to silently assume person (B) rolls past stop signs. It would be both hypocritical and projection for person (A) to falsely accuse person (B) of rolling past stop signs.

In today’s heated socio-political climate I contend that we’re seeing both hypocrisy and projection being utilized on a daily basis. How many times have we heard a Leftist claim that Donald Trump is "a threat to our democracy"?

The better question to ask is, “Who on the Left has not made that claim?”"

Good article. The whole thing may be as simple as an underlying evil Marxist ideology desiring to bring to an end of what is the USA and replace it with it's idea of utopia in spite of its proven failures in the past 100+ years. An evil ideology like Marxism, IMHO, is a natural magnet for people suffering from the psychological conditions and deficiencies described in the article as well as many other criminal types and opportunists meaning the left has an over representation of such individuals (Side note: Marx and Engels were two such screwed up individuals who basically kicked this whole thing off). "They" have bubbled to the top of the leftist hierarchy and have taken over the Democrat party and we are witnessing the results. The scary thing here is how they have managed to set the agenda for so much that is America today. The lie, of course, is one of their chief means to their desired end. More scary is they seem to have developed the means and methods to propagate themselves into the populace at large. They have an army of useful psychologically broken idiots and it needs a kick in the ass to wake it up.

And now the governor of Washington State is calling out the National Guard just in case, implying that the republicans might attempt to riot and destroy property after Tuesday's election. Apparently he disagrees with me that, "The Summer of Love" was a thousand times as illegal and destructive as "Jan 6th" was. That's even more than simple hypocrisy.

If the left loses it and he doesn't act, even though he has the ability to act,
then he will look like a damned fool - similar to the rest of the Democrats
      who aren't outright traitors.
      Both Washingtons are sewers.
I'm sure that George is utterly disgusted and wants to take back his name.

I'll say it again (as I have many times before): The symbol of the Democrat Party should not be the honest, hard-working donkey, but rather, the Roman god Janus, the true symbol of a two-faced, lying son of a bitch. Apparently accusing others for what you do yourself isn't actually one of Alinsky's 12 Rules for radicals, but it should have been. It seems to be their main form of attack these days.
    Alinsky's rules are:
    1) Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have.
    2) Never go outside the expertise of your people.
    3) Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy.
    4) Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.
    5) Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.
    6) A good tactic is one your people enjoy.
    7) A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.
    8) Keep the pressure on. Never let up.
    9) The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.
    10) The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will
maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition.
    11) If you push a negative hard and deep enough it will break through into its
    counterside [positive].
    12) The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.
    13) Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.
We all need to know these and recognize when they're being used.

There are some American 'groups' that must always find in a different 'group' what it is in themselves that others find distasteful. I have always put it down to insecurity. Perhaps it is, in the childish sense.

Projection is a psychological defense mechanism where someone transfers negative feelings, emotions, or habits onto another person or object. It can be a sign of a personality disorder or trauma, and is commonly found in people with narcissistic, borderline, or paranoid personalities.
Here are some signs that someone might be projecting:
Blaming others: They may blame others for things that have gone wrong, rather than taking responsibility.
Being quick to point out flaws: They may be quick to point out other people's flaws and shortcomings.
Making accusations: They may make accusations about others.
Being defensive: They may be defensive.

I've often wondered, Mr. D., since you seem to have a handle on it, is projection always subconscious? That is, if someone blames another for his own insufficiencies, but does it knowingly, does it qualify for the psychological definition?

        I would say yes.

But, done knowingly, this type of projection could technically be called a false accusation.

Okay. But can't we sue people for making false accusations?

To end this thread, Mr. D., and I appreciate your patience, is that some people, and some groups of people, don't understand that they are, in fact, unconsciously projecting their own feelings of unworthiness on another group.

Not all people, and not all groups of people, of course. But I think it is important to be able to make that distinction, between those who do it unconsciously, like children, and those who do it consciously for other purposes.

I thought I should elaborate. I have always considered projection to be an unconscious psychological attempt to save one's ego: unconsciously the individual senses he is unworthy in one way or another, but will assert that someone else has that unworthiness, and free himself of any guilt.

But I've recently discovered, as you state, that for many people projection can also be a conscious attempt to blame another for one's own faults, as they are perceived by himself. In this case, the individual is attempting for another third party to see the fault, sin, or crime in another, not himself. So that would be a false accusation or slander or libel.

Do you think I am defending someone? I said that if someone knowingly projects his own inadequacies on another person, then that can be called a 'false accusation', or libel or slander, whose only affirmative defense would be 'truth'.

I'm saying if I call a thief, a thief, but he projects it knowingly back on me, calling me a thief when I am not a thief, then that is slander or libel. It was the truth when I called him a thief, it is a false accusation when he calls me a thief.

Ok I agree with most all you have pondered. I am not that interested in dissecting the psychological make up of every insecure human and their actions or reactions because of their self esteem inadequacies. Clearly the left has over and over accused MAGA of what they are . Racists, authoritarian, dangerous extremists are a few examples. The Puppetmasters all seem to be Satanic Luciferian Genocidal Globalist Peedo Cabal. The Head of the WEF or the WHO or the Pope all fit that description to a tee. For starters.

I believe, Mr. D., that children (and psychopaths) are more prone to project unconsciously, and there is a certain group of people in America---I'm sure you know who I am talking about---who have in most respects, the mindset of children. This group of people project unconsciously, they actually have the strong belief that it is the 'other' that has the traits being projected. I think this is dangerous, especially if others are not aware of it.

The Leftist's projections, a la Saul Alinsky are not of that same dangerous type, because they KNOW what they are doing, but that these other, less mature people have been led to believe that what is being projected is true, is dangerous as well. Extremely dangerous, if we aren't aware of it.
