Past The Point Of No Return
Honest, people, this is not a story from The Bee. It's on foxnews.com. It's from Oregon, so while it shocks the hell out of me, it doesn't surprise me.
'Megan Donecker, who formerly served as the Oregon Department of Forestry’s DEI strategy officer, complained about the agency's management, criticizing her boss Mike Shaw for looking "beyond gender and identity in hiring, seeking only candidates most qualified for the job," OregonLive reported.'
How the hell did we get to a place in society where someone could be canned from his job because he hires based on merit rather than identity?
After seeing this, it almost makes me think that a catastrophic end-of-the-world event wouldn't be a bad idea; it would give Mother Nature a chance to cleanse herself of worthless pieces of crap like this and start over. Yeah, there'd be some unfortunate collateral damage, but when people like this idiot in Oregon wield this kind of power, maybe that's a price worth paying.

Diversity classifies everyone by groups based solely on--among other things--race. It ignores character, individuality, other things that make us what we are.
Equity is essentially the guarantee of an equal outcome, rather than equal opportunity. If you and I are in the same job, we should get paid the same. No matter that you're willing to work the extra hours, put in the extra effort, go well above and beyond what's expected.
And Inclusion is, by definition, exclusionary. At Christmas, they kick anything Christian out of schools and businesses and government offices, saying things like "we want to include everyone". But what they really mean is that they want to exclude Christians and include everyone else. It's much like Galt says in his speech. They don't want to win; they want you to lose. They don't want what you have; they just don't want you to have it.
The whole concept of DEI should be illegal.
Let me think.....
Oh yeah, Altas Shrugged.
I spent years cleaning public bathrooms as a kid. It taught me a lot about people, but it taught me the value of leaving things BETTER than you find them. Restrooms are prone to getting disgusting pretty quickly all on their own.
Yet, we would still get vandals throwing the TP rolls in the toilet, trying to make it overflow. At one point ,we had steel bars and padlocks to protect a roll of THIN PAPER.
We need young kids to be doing REAL WORK. Lest they grow up to be what we see today!
+1 because that's all I can give you.
This honestly makes me sick to think that this is what our world is coming to.
Something else I thought was extremely relevant but completely glossed over by the Fox News writers: "She also reportedly claimed that six queer staffers didn't 'feel safe or comfortable' at work...". Six queer staffers? That sure as hell sounds like non-straight-white-conservtive-males would be hired if they were qualified for the job. Why wasn't that taken into account before this guy got suspended?
NYC, the place that once was supposedly the center for open discussion and 'liberal' (aka freedom-loving) rational thought is now utter censorship with no varied opinion on anything.
Sheep being unknowingly herded to the slaughter house.
I figure your call, rainman0720, that mother nature is getting ready to cull the herd is just as good as Asimov's. WTF is going on?!
As a partial hint the story started out with one of the alien's far outpost planets was visited by an earth ship first encounter and the earth explorers were armed, which was frightening and didn't go over well with them.
Off topic, the search process resulted in finding a long-time mystery "wish list" item about a butter smuggler in world where such fats were illegal. It's "Lipidleggin'" by F. Paul Wilson (https://billstclair.com/DoingFreedom/...) -- highly recommended.
"Lipidleggin" was a great story. I am amused at how the author refers to government control freaks as "giraffes". There are a lot of them long necked creatures these days.
