Me dino has for too long been working on a novel in which the protagonist's oldest brother is a cuirassier involved in a (very old vrs. the very new) disastrous charge during 1914.
I had already first draft written that charge before stumbling upon the actual name of a cuirassier's sword~~

You can imagine what writing problems this can lead to. For example, "He smote him with his latte." Yes, a full explanation is screamed for.
In the next click on, scroll down to the 19th and 20th Centuries and check out that photo made during 1914 in Paris. All those poor outdated cuirassiers think they will go to war and amount to something.
