“Irregular” Immigration hits Canada:
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he would discuss stemming the tide of “irregular” migration from the U.S. to Canada with President Biden during a meeting next month in Ottawa. Trudeau is under pressure from Canadian officials over the increasing number of asylum seekers crossing at the New York-Quebec border point known as Roxham Road. Asylum seekers are crossing at Roxham Road due to a loophole in the Safe Third Country Agreement allowing migrants to enter Canada and claim asylum. Mass immigration is finally impacting Canada, putting Trudeau under domestic pressure to stem the tide. Trudeau previously said there was no core national Canadian identity and welcomed immigration, but it appears the first “postnational” country is running headfirst into the reality of mass immigration.
