All of the core families, Irish, French, Scots, and English that are in my ancestry arrived in the North American colonies before 1700. They fought in every conflict from the French and Indian war to Vietnam. Few were aristocrats, though one was a contemporary of Washington, Jefferson, and Henry in the House of Burgesses. Most were craftsmen, blacksmiths, wheelrights, and when steam came along, maintained the engines that opened up the frontier. They worked in shipyards and aircraft factories. None became wards of the state, supported by taxpayers. With that personal history I'm disappointed with people who feel this country they claim to hate as unjust owes them something.

Jefferson warned us that our destruction would not come from outside, but from within, and there are those malicious souls who seek to tear down the nation that is the first created on the principle of individual freedom. Hypocrisy is their watchword, lies are their standard, and hate is their motivation. They seek to create and feed division among us, and we must defeat them to bring unity and purpose back into American society.

I remember a time when everyone went to church. on Sunday and learned to "treat other people the way that you want to be treated yourself".

That little bit of wisdom built a strong cultural foundation for everyone and had a unifying impact on society in general.

Allosaur is correct. People used to think more broadly and were far more principled. I would add that being able to see "big picture" was a common practice of even an average person.

Small and envious minds as well as fringe nonsense (whim worship) taking center stage in all media are largely to blame for our cultural decline.

And those who did nothing to help this country want to take advantage of all our families have created. My family built gorgeous homes, refineries, and churches. My family fought and died for this country and I cannot abide or sympathize with people who can't immigrate here legally but kill our Border Patrol trying to get in.

What ever happened to that premise one had to have some skill or other attribute that would benefit this country in order to immigrate to here legally?
My heirs arrived here in the early 1800s as Indentured Servants, otherwise known as Slaves who had to work their way to freedom for a set period of years.

A kindred spirit here, GaryL. Mine showed up as a 9 year old boy kidnapped in Germany, stuffed onto a ship in Edinburgh Scotland, dumped in Maryland as an indentured servant in 1731.

My family arrived here about six weeks before I was born. My Mother and Father became US Citizens. They always leaned left but still loved America. They lived here for the rest of their lives.

Congrats. I wasn't talking about people like your parents who immigrated legally. I'm sure they are lovely people. I mean the illegally entering worthless ones who mean to harm us.

Agreed. I mention this because people say the immigration system is broken. Far from it. It works. My parents used it.

Unless you are still a child , the immigration system today is far different than it was 30 years ago. Everything reQuires some type of maintenance or it breaks down.

My parents immigrated 66 years ago. Of course the system needs maintenance. Some things are timeless. An immigrant should arrive educated and with financial resources. An immigrant should be able to work, pay taxes and participate in the economy on day one.

Lawful immigration has been wonderful for our nation, you and your parents are a great example.
Cuban boat flotillas with Cuban criminals during Reagan’s Admin and the flood of illegals ever since have weakened this country in many ways.

If one looks back through history, it is rarely the age of the nation which determines its greatness but rather the principles upon which that nation was built and which continue to govern it. What should also be recognized is that a nation's name or age is almost never indicative of real stability. For example, what is the real age of the nation of France, given the fact that it was wholly occupied by Germany during WW II? What about Spain given its hundreds of years of fighting for independence from the Moors? What about fringe nations like Monrovia or Macedonia which existed hundreds - or thousands - of years ago and were re-instituted? What about more timely conflicts like Russia and Ukraine, where their shared cultural heritage goes back centuries despite political upheavals? What about China, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan, which have changed hands and cultures multiple times - especially in WW II? I think it's hard for any nation to really claim it goes back further than WW II - even the US which added Hawaii and Alaska immediately afterward!

I think one thing that sets the United States of America apart from all other nations is the set of principles - primarily equality - upon which it was founded. That core idea goes to the heart of your question and is what people either want to live in (the free people) or want to destroy (the tyrants).

I think the USA should accept that it has become the Divided States of America, and split into two parts, one of which goes back to its status as a republic, and the other is a completely statist country.

The problem is that the ideological divide doesn't follow geographical lines. It would be simpler that way but I fear that the problem is just as deep and rooted as slavery was prior to the Civil War. And I fear that the solution isn't going to be any simpler.

"The problem is that the ideological divide doesn't follow geographical lines." That is the big problem. Even blue states like NY are primarily red geographically. The cities are blue, but the rest is red. Many other states are the same. There's no way to divide it up unless you're willing to create hundreds of city-state countries.

Just my 2 cents but the organized theft of our elections is the big problem. I am certain that my state as recent history would show is liberal , but if the greased machine of corruption was eliminated and votes cast were tallied correctly we would not have the liberal label. Cheating has to stop in our elections or all the rest is just mental masterbation.
          2000 Mules proves it!

Your 2 cents is well noted. I will watch 2000 mules when I can, but I don't need it to realize something went wrong with the election process. I've been a process controls programmer for chemical making and manufacturing systems too long to dismiss the fact a sudden spike in the process data means something isn't right. There's a thumb on the scale somewhere and the courts refusing to even look is a bad omen. In chemical making ignoring a process spike like that can cost big bucks or even get people killed. You do not ignore them.

What if Biden only won three or four states ? I actually think I am being generous with that.
To my way of thinking it’s like the fake PCR test.
If you don’t know the true data to begin with everything else is speculative. Speculation on false foundations leads to misguided conclusions. The silent majority , remember that oft used term in the past. When the controllers cheat and the media conspires with them , add censorship . What do you have? A silent majority. How big ? We don’t know. Bigger than we think.

I think that Biden probably won more than three or four states. I just can't see California, Oregon, Washington, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, or Delaware (his home state) voting any other way. All the others, however, could have very easily been swayed between the lack of the Hunter Biden laptop story (which research reports would have swayed as much as 8% of the voting base) or outright fraud (Georgia, Arizona, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Nevada). But that doesn't mean that there aren't significant blocs of voters who support the Left, and that's a major problem.

I can’t argue how many states Pedo Joe won because it is pure speculation, election fraud was well planned and orchestrated. Heck as Demented Quid pro Joe said “ we have built the most extensive voter fraud organization in history”. “You know the thing.”

I agree and the federal government would react to secession as it did in civil war days

I doubt that secession would start it. I think it would be far more Oregon-ic, with massive riots and looting that suddenly become even more violent. It will be miniaturized "autonomous" zones within cities (think Washington State) that arm themselves and grow their reach like out-of-control gangs. And then eventually the cities will be taken over by these thugs and the decent people will have only two choices: flee or fight. A dozen cities will be on fire to start with before the chaos spreads. Small towns will simply evict their political opposition to try to prevent bloodshed. Everything will descend from there with National Guard armories being raided and general fighting breaking out.

it would be better if texas seceded and I could move there. Somehow, civil war is likely to happen as this is now the Divided States of America. Unfortunately, the 'decent" people are tired of the left, and since elections are now corrupted and voting is useless, violence is the only option.
