Fifty years me dino was in a state of high suspense as I watched a simulation of Apollo 11 on TV descend toward the surface of the Moon. Knew if the slightest thing went wrong it could all turn into a horrible disaster. This was the worst part of the whole thing . . . until the craft landed successfully. After that, the first moonwalk was a cakewalk. Also after that, I thought we'd have colonies on the Moon and Mars by now. 2001, A Space Odyssey?
"with mind enough to reason and heart enough to dare." When I think about the difficulties, it seems like an almost impossible feat. It doesn't seem impossible to get to the moon, but to get there and back carrying people, food and air, and fuel for a return trip, and to have no one die in space at any point seems hard to believe. I can understand the reason for the nutty conspiracy theories that say the whole program was a hoax. The things people can achieve are as amazing as the stories we can make up.

There's a piece of calligraphy there, just beyond my fingers,
"with mind enough to reason
and heart enough to dare.".
Thanks, WW
