I've heard it described as a 5G issue, but that doesn't sound right to me. Vendors had a desire to come up with something they could call 5G long before they knew which technologies they would incorporate and brand as being part of "5G". But I think the threat is real, regardless what physical layer is used.
When I was active in the defense industry attended a briefing that listed the most dangerous countries for industrial espionage . as I recall it wnet something like
