Barr spars with Nadler, threatens to skip testimony after dispute over hearing format
"Attorney General Bill Barr will be a no-show at a long-awaited hearing on Thursday before the Democrat-led House Judiciary Committee based on current negotiations over his appearance, a source on the committee told Fox News on Sunday.
The emerging spat comes after Barr has endured withering attacks from congressional Democrats, who have outright accused him of sacrificing his integrity to appease President Trump. Barr shepherded the release of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's report in recent weeks, and he has largely become a punching bag for progressives frustrated that Mueller's probe found no evidence to back up claims that the Trump team colluded with Russians.
Fox News has learned that Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., wants to have Judiciary Committee staff -- rather than members of Congress -- question Barr on his handling of Mueller's report. But DOJ officials say members should conduct the inquiry."
The AG should be questioned by members of the House, not staffers/

They are too cowardly to face our Attorney General and question him? They want their 'Staff' to do their dirty work? I hope Barr tells Nadler what he really thinks of him! Nadler is probably certifiable. Hatred can do that!Mark as read | Best of... | Permalink|
- 3Posted by mminnick 5 years, 9 months agoJust think about your statement. These idiots were voted in by the good citizens of this fair republic. What soes that say about the voting public. If these people were the best what/who were the Repbulicans putting up as candidates? The Republicans are at least partially the blame by putting up candidates that were not competitive. They had 45 members of the house retiring in 2018 and they knew well in advance they were doing so. They should have done a better job at recruiting candidates and supportin the candidates in the run up to the election. That could have kept the losses down to a bare minimum.Mark as read | Parent | Best of... | Permalink|
- 1Posted by $ blarman 5 years, 9 months agoPart of that is because most of the staff are lawyers and their sole purpose is to try to find something in Barr's testimony they can use as an excuse to continue this charade/witch hunt. Barr was correct to refuse to appear and I expect him to stick to his guns in light of these ridiculous and extra-legal requests.Mark as read | Parent | Best of... | Permalink|
