I guess, being a bit older and getting a late start as a writer, I too am a remnant; and I do wish to rebuild. Maybe that is why I focus most on ancient history and the cycles of civilization, not forgetting how it all has shaped our world today.

Sorry to see you scaling back writing your essays. They have always been thought-provoking. I believe that many of use in the Gulch see our selves as Remnants. I wish you well in your new endeavor.

While I do enjoy spinning tales that make readers want to start on and continue the journey to the end I have struggled with the marketability of ventures that keep true to the principles of moral and objective values also. I have enjoyed your articles immensely for their concise instruction and the prodding to use a dictionary to be certain I understand the words you use to clarify the meaning.
For a number years now I have come to the same conclusion that the desire of humanity in general is to be part of the collective, to remain as slaves and they are willing to deny even the small parts they understand to be immoral and wrong to continue on the path of security that slavery promises them.
I cannot remember where I read that few of humanity truly desire liberty and objectivity and it is difficult to tell if attempting to teach them has any real results in converting any of them or do we just discover or perhaps uncover the few who are so inclined.
Five hundred years ago Estienne de la Boetie pointed out the same problem in his eloquent little book 'The Will To Bondage' and wrote that this may be the lot of the race until it dies out.
I have sought those who are of similar mind sets here that I might have some company. When I try to teach even small increments of the value of living free I am generally trampled upon by the swine. I shall watch for you and your work and would like someday to meet you if circumstances permit. I think those who would be free might be in great danger if they continue to live where they can be so easily monitored and controlled. Makes me wish there were a Galt's Gulch where those who desire to live by their own means and not be plundered could exist. The best we might accomplish is to live unobserved where we can so as not to become a target of the state and the looting drones.

Commercializing a new technology sounds better than excoriating idiots.
Many people are out there creating new things. In many ways it's easier than ever. And in the modern world a much smaller portion of the population than ever is illiterate... the same with the portion who believes in superstition over reason, who believes rights are subject to approval of majority, who believes people should do what their group does and not try new things-- all decreasing sharply.
So I think we may be at maximum reason, minimum insanity, for human history but still far from the peak.
