While Jean-Baptiste Say proved that the supply side is the only side, and Ayn Rand proved that reason, purpose and pride and the fountainhead of human flourishing, Mises proved that its individual choice is the root of wealth creation and economic stability.

    Thanks.
Celebrities, politicians, journalists and intellectuals (as they call themselves) are big on joining whatever bandwagon is going. It looks like Mises described this very well:

Everyone was so convinced of the inevitability of the coming Bolshevism that they were intent merely on securing for themselves a favorable position in the new order. The Catholic Church and its follower, the Christian Social Party, were ready to welcome Bolshevism with the same ardor that the archbishops twenty years later welcomed Nazism. Bank managers and industrialists hoped to earn a good living under Bolshevism.

Yes, the bandwagon effect of the looters and the second-handers. Here is what a friend says about Mises: I see Mises through a lens of principled adherence to the views and analysis he arrived at through the rigorous application of reason, in the face of unrelenting, universal and unprincipled opposition from academia, politicians, governments, NGO’s, the media and every other collectivist defender of the status quo. For a long time, he stood alone, but he never deviated from what he believed was the right path, irrespective of the pressures and threats he faced.

Mises was steadfast in his defense of reason and truth. It cost him many professional opportunities, and like Rand, he escaped Bolshevism, and then Nazism for New York City.
