(34) A Lesson from Atlas Shrugged
This is more applicable today, than it was 2 years ago, whoever posted it (LibertyPen). But the clip is very powerful given the bleating we hear from the likes of Ocasio Cortez, Schumer, and Pelosi.

Stop "feeding the beast that is trying to destroy" you.
Sales tax, income tax, property tax, excise taxes, hotel taxes, utility tax, etc. etc. etc.
My interest in the next generation has waned substantially in the last 10 years. People have too many children they dont really care about and teach. The country is going to change towards heavy duty collectivism, and it makes me just want to "go galt" and stop working so hard. I want to spend everything I make while alive and leave nothing for the next generation.
Looks like equality of outcome is almost achieved.
That part of the book explains so clearly how Socialism must always lead to failure -- how good intentions mean nothing when the results of their application are not taken into judgment.
I find that I can read that small bit of the book as a standalone condemnation of collectivism.
Francisco's Money Speech is also very good. I think the concern, however, is that it can be too abstract for many people. As I like to say "Money is the single most important and least understood invention of all time."
The creators of the AS novel to film had to do 3 installments, for lack of funds or whatever reason.
Meaning that the main characters were played by different actors in the three sequels as everyone knows.
Part II was the worst for the character of Dagny. The woman playing her (never heard of her) is so off beat that is gets painful.
Rearden is good, the only reason the film should be watched.
IMO Part III was the most acceptable with the exception of the geriatric actor playing Francisco.
They changed the script: Eddy was not part of the rescue operation for Galt: he died in his loyal effort trying to save the last Taggart train.
That actor in Part III was in fact quite good, as an actor, but I agree- totally mis-cast.
I think she enjoyed creating scenes where the reader had to check his own premises. The ending of Night of January 16th is an example.
The reason I am always skeptical about novel to film conversion is precisely that: reading a novel, especially one as chiseled and magnificent as AR's Atlas Shrugged would challenge even the most talented director. There is no way to translate the effect the novel impacts on you to the screen. The characters, the images, the message are formulated on a very personal level so seeing the work on the screen becomes a great disappointment.
Which is always the case, I might add. I can remember only one instance when the film was better than the novel, in my lifetime.
Having said that, I am glad they made the film. Many scenes came through well and edged into memory, such as the first ride on the new Rearden metal tracks, the scene of Galt's Gulch community in Colorado (I found the location which was first explored by AR and her husband before the film was shot), or the meeting between Galt and Thompson when the latter offers him the position of Economic Dictator.
I wonder how many in Congress ever read the book? I would make it mandatory reading for every newly minted Congressperson and Senator.
It is unlikely to happen these days. I don't know of any company today who would put up the resistance as Rearden did to the government. They are all headed by people in the pocket of the left.
Having said that, I was forced to see idiots like Williams and Beckel again in this video whom I NEVER watch.
FOX employs them to show they are "balanced". I can't believe anyone wants to listen to them. If I wanted to hear nonsense they parrot, I'd go to CNN.
That's how they get away with what they do...
With YouTube, I can pick and choose what I expect to learn from, not the tired collectivist drivel we are fed today. I pretty much know everything they are going to say at this point so it does nothing for me to waste time listening to it.
I think if Trump has a chance in 2020, it will be because of the stupid socialist woman in NYC, Warren, Beto O'Rourke, Sanders, and the rest of the wild eyed socialists. I dont think people are really up to paying for all that stuff. They have seen the cost increases of Obamacare, and god only knows what would happen with medicaid for everyone ( they say medicare for all, but they MEAN medicaid for all)
2016, people voted for TRUMP, not the republicans. In 2018, it was republican hacks vs democrat hacks, and they didnt offer enough goodies to the masses. In 2020 it will be a vote for Trump again, but the dems will at least take over part if not all of the congress. Trumps best slogan is "Promises Made...Promised Kept"
A fresh air after the incompetency of the Husseins and Bushes.
I admire his stamina and mind. He is causing tremendous pain to the left which makes them become more and more outraged and hysterical to the level that it should kill them in the end.
Mercifully Kelly is gone (she is gone from NBC as well; some say she'll return to FOX; if they want to lose the remaining audience).
But they managed to find several others like Martha McCallum who is difficult to tolerate even for 5 min. Beats me who is willing to sit through her hour long crap?
For a while I tuned to Tucker but he must be getting his cues from top management who want him to put the left on air. Recently he resurrected Austan Goolsbee, the Hussein apologist and "economist", justifying the 2% growth under Hussein. He was the Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers under Hussein, so it is not difficult to fathom where he stands and what he has to say. I don't listen to his show but Tucker seems to be happy with him putting him on regularly now.
YouTube has more interesting people like Ben Shapiro, Mark Levin, Jordan Peterson,Bill O'reilly and others. Life is too short to listen to drivel from the left
I am aware of how to search but I thought there were channels like FOX that you can reach only through YT.
Thanks for the info.
