Helsinki Press Conference
I am so proud of President Trump! He ignored the obvious political move made by the FBI and put them all in their place and the left is just beside themselves! It is so fun to watch! I love that we finally have a real and strong President handle these nincompoops! He just moves forward, bares the truth, and keeps improving our country, the world and our status in the world. The lefties are just annoying little pests with big mouths who yell and bite at him and he just swats them away. Keep up the good work President Trump!

Sounds like a Goldwater speech.
Trump appeared entirely "presidential" (and I expect that will be entirely ignored by the MSM.)
I loved that the first question for Trump from a Russian journalist went right to the point on his comments on the Russian Gas pipeline to Germany. On the other hand the first question from Reuters was typical liberal biased political propaganda commentary with no basis in fact. Actually all the western press questions were on these issues; remarkable that the western press had absolutely nothing to say about any substantive issues whatsoever. Embarrassing when the Russian press is more open and rational than that of the MSM press.
Putin appears to be a canny politician. Very interesting the way Putin avoided answering the question regarding collection of blackmail material on Trump.
The two of them were wise to have a statement on humanitarian aid helping reduce immigration to Europe and allowed the Russian leader to take credit for it.
It's unfortunate that those who dislike Trump will not watch this without bias.
Thanks for posting the link to the press conference, ycandrea.
I sometimes think that Levi Strauss had more to do with the collapse of the USSR than Ronald Reagan. Once their teens got their hands on jeans, Big Macs and rock and roll Communism was dead.
The quote sometimes attributed to Bastiat that, "If goods do not cross borders, soldiers will" seems very true to me in this regard. Negotiations based on free trade can do more to reduce tensions and bring countries together peacefully more than any threats or debates on territory realignments, human rights or governmental organization. Trade with China has changed their country tremendously and reduced their threat of starting a war. Sure they cheated trying to catch up and that needs to be reined in but tariffs and sanctions will not be nearly as effective as discussion of mutually beneficial trade.
In the case of both Russia and China we need to talk. If threats are side issues without becoming warlike, so be it. Meddling in our politics is no reason to do anything other than saying If you don't meddle in our internal affairs, we won't meddle in yours and I haven't heard anyone promise that yet. Our "deep state" is just as dirty as anyone else's if not more so. At one point Putin started to take that tract when he said "after all I was once an intelligence agent with the KGB" but he didn't hit us with the hammer like the idiots are demanding that Trump should have done.
One other aspect that frequently gets overlooked in the United States (because we are a young nation) is that most other nations have histories and cultures that go back 1000 or more years and include boundary shifts and power shifts between nations. Russia has shifted its borders numerous times - contracting and expanding - with the changing militaries of the times. The Chinese were at one point a threat to take over the world until one emperor decided to abandon invasion plans and go home for nearly a century. And time and technology changed. But amidst the shuffling of borders, the base culture and national identity of many of these nations hasn't changed in centuries. Hitler played upon the national identity of the Germans when he riled them for war just as Stalin did even after the Bolshevik Revolution changed the power structure. Communist China is the very same story - they just traded one emperor for another with a more populist title.
"In the case of both Russia and China we need to talk."
Yes, we do. But it has to be action associated with talk as well. Bill Clinton talked a lot to the Chinese and pushed through Most Favored Nation trade status - all the while selling them proprietary wing technology. Obama talked to Iran and ended international sanctions on that nation - right before giving them $400 million and setting them up through a disastrous deal to get nuclear weapons. One thing I will give Trump credit for is that at least his actions are taken with the purpose of "making America great again" even though his eloquence is not what we have become used to from our heads of State.
Makes me dislike usa workers more for being so uncompetitive and entitlement oriented. We spend time trying to get paid family leave while chinese workers just buckle down and increase their priductivity
Trump didnt do that, fortunately. He had a nice 4 hour meeting of the minds, hopefully laying out what we want, what Putin wants, and how we will avoid accidental wars over mistakes and misunderstandings.
