We have just returned from a trip to a Caribbean nation. I believe we just had a preview of the US in 50 years. There were 'no guns allowed' for the people but there was always an armed policeman in sight everywhere we went.
Something I did not see in that gellerreport- London now has more murders than NYC. An interesting statistic easy to misinterpret and get over-excited about. It does not prove that London needs either slacker or stricter gun laws. It possibly is evidence that lawlessness, too many of the wrong kind of migrants, growing decadence of government, lead to more crime.
Spain, under Francisco Franco, was peaceful and orderly, with a submachinegun-armed Guardia Civil on every corner. My parents were delighted that you could wander the streets of Madrid at 2 AM without fear of being mugged.
Franco was a rare exception, as dictators go. He actually permitted free speech once the early stages of the revolution had passed, and he carefully planned a return to a parliamentary monarchy once he felt he could no longer govern. He was also smart enough to keep Spain out of the European conflagration, in spite of the support he received from Hitler during Spain's civil war.
I just plain don't understand!!! Don't the GUNS know they're NOT supposed to enter a gun free zone?! Gosh, all those poor ignorant people being forced by those smart guns to smuggle them into such zones!
It's advanced technology: self shooting guns. It also helps explain how liberals, using only their mouths, manage to shoot themselves in the foot so frequently.
It seems that their are just some people who actually hate the very principle of self-defense. I remember in school, if somebody hit you, the teacher didn't want you to hit back.--But if you reported being mistreated, it was unlikely the perpetrator would get a paddling. And so forth. People who teach and/or absorb such garbage are not likely to want to let their fellow citizens defend themselves with a gun. And suppose such an anti-gun activist were being held at knifepoint by a thug, and his gun-toting neighbor had a chance to save him, and then just stood there saying, "Oh, no, surely you wouldn't want me to engage in any violence, would you? And after all, what's the harm? He doesn't have a gun, does he?" And if you did save him, he'd probably continue to be anti-gun, but also want to ban knives.
As long as there isn't a metal detector, me dino will always carry a concealed pocket pistol in a gun free zone of murder/maim opportunity. That way, should anyone attack me dino with a knife, boy, do I have a surprise for his butt. Whether I was forced to defend myself from a gun, knife, club or whatever, there is a chance me dino will be arrested for being 9mm armed in a gun free zone. Me dino would want to do one thing before the police slips on the cuffs. That would be to point at the dead, dying or just bleeding perp I shot and say, "Who's laughing now?"
I've been a lifelong NRA member, a life member of the American Legion, and I'm a certified NRA firearms instructor. We go through this every few years, and it always blows over. There are basically 8 blue states in the US, and the 42 or so red states will not be "blue" or purple anytime in the lifetime of anyone in this audience. They can dream all they want of repealing the 2nd Amendment, but even Teddy Roosevelt wrote of the dangers of pacifists in our midst that would not take action of their own if another man assaulted their wife or 'defiled their daughter'. (I'm reading 'Fear God and Take Your Own Part' right now). This has literally been going on for 100+ years. They would need ⅔ of congress and ¾ of the states to approve an amendment to the constitution... you an do that with something like guaranteeing voting rights for blacks - but you are not going to get more than 3 or 4 of them to vote for removing the civil rights of law-abiding citizens.
They can marginally do some damage at the state level, but here are the facts. Neil Gorsuch swings the court hard to the right. There are at least 2 others with a foot in the grave that Trump will appoint replacements for during his second term if not before.
Trump is over 50% in the latest Rasmussen poll, and I'm sure that like the election, a lot of women will not admit to being a supporter on the phone with a stranger - but they will vote for the economy and American strength at the voting booth.
Lastly, I'm a membership recruiter and treasure for the California Republican Assembly. We have never seen this level of strength in recruiting of millennials, and we are actively reaching out. The dip-shits and useless idiots in high school are whatever they are... but the millennials are slowly turning conservative now that they are making money and paying taxes... While I was always blood-red conservative since birth, many/most fit the model "If you are not a liberal in college, you don't have a heart.. if you are not a conservative by the time you are 30, you don't have a brain". We are certainly seeing that as millennials grow up.
My son is 24 and he is "hard-right"... of course, growing up with a 50-gun rifle safe in the house, an NRA life member, American Legion, and VFW life memberships with only "very conservative" people in his sphere and family certainly influenced that.. but there are really not that many of his friends that are liberal either. Of course, we also live in Placer County - one of the top 2 in California for military vets (9.9%), per capita income and registered GOP voters (60%).
As for your comment about the mounted-police.. yes... my wife's family has a villa in Mexico (we are currently trying to sell the damn thing), the few times I have been there, you see the Federalis driving by in beat-up Dodge trucks with a half-dozen in the truck bed with their M-4s staring at the populace like they are vermin... no "protect and serve" on the side of those things. People are scared to death of them, with good reason.
I wish I could be as optimistic as you -- but it's only been a decade or so since the left flooded Colorado with enough people to turn it blue, and they're near to taking over Texas the same way. Without any sudden, visible event to provoke a showdown I don't think we'll ever get enough people to grab those guns and resist. And the other side will only try to provoke one when they are ready.
Now I understand. That law is designed to prevent people from overthrowing the communist governemnt and leaving it in power for a long time. Hmm, I wonder if thats why Castro lasted so long there.
My mother spent some time there, years ago. I want to go. I know that communism has killed millions of people, though. Mom has some interesting stories about being there. Someday, I'll go...
For good reason. Cuba is communist. If you had said that about, say, the US Virgin Islands then it might be a bit more worrisome. Oh, wait... https://digitrigger.com/what-you-shou...
First they take the guns. Then they do the "grooming" by "asian men". See how that works? Don't know what I'm talking about? Look up "Telford grooming".

Oh, wait... then reality shows up.

Thank goodness for gun laws...

You're welcome...
