Get out the vote.

In Pennsylvania Hillary took the biggest cities (typically democrat), Pittsburg and Philadelphia. It’s the outlying small cities and rural areas that determined the outcome of the election by just getting out and voting. I assume the same would go for states like Washington, where the eastern part of the state votes practically all republican except for its biggest city, Spokane. There are more rural and small city voters in these areas than there are in Spokane, so the eastern half of the state usually goes republican in spite of Spokane. In Washington State I’ve heard that if everyone across the state voted that could be eligible, the whole state would go republican. The democrat vote in Seattle isn’t big enough to offset the results if everyone voted. Perhaps politicians (R) should concentrate more on rural areas, just getting them to get out and vote could win an election. The majority of the population seems to be in the big cities, but I wonder where the majority of the voters today might be. You will find a whole lot more people in the big cities that do not vote, do not even know how to vote, and frankly do not care. How many people vote could have a much greater effect on an election than anything else. The same has to go for many states.

Hitlery got more votes in almost all the large cities in the US with a handful of exceptions like Oklahoma City and Jacksonville FL. (I posted a more complete list just after the election here in the Gulch, but can't find the post today.) My conclusion is that those who are less self reliant live in big cities and vote for socialists.

"My conclusion is that those who are less self reliant live in big cities and vote for socialists."

Very much so. Ask anyone from a big city where the things in the supermarket come from. Many have no clue. Most have no idea what farming or manufacturing or transportation processes make it so that those packaged goods are there on the shelves.

If you live in rural areas, there is no social net to fall back on: the brutal realities of life and nature quickly dispel the notion of living off someone else because they are far too busy trying to take care of themselves! It is no surprise to me when I look at the red/blue voting maps that all but a few major population areas are decidedly anti-Progressive and that those correspond very closely to rural areas.

You said, "Ask anyone from a big city where the things in the supermarket come from. Many have no clue."

Here is a small example proving you absolutely correct. A few min ago in my class the subject of me raising a calf for slaughter came up and one of my students was adamant that, "He would never eat cow. As he only eats Beef."

After wiping my eyes from crying. Not sure if it was from laughing hard or in shame that he is one of my smarter students. I explained that beef comes from cows. Had to actually do a Google search before this star would believe me.

It's really unfortunate that your story is probably true. Believing it should make me think that perhaps you teach kindergarten in some big city on one of our coasts. But I don't think that anymore.

Sadly I teach high school math, mainly Geometry and Algebra II, kids ranging from 14 to 19, mostly 16 or 17 years old.

As a way of minor explanation it is an alternative education school for children with problems, drugs, legal, behavior and such.

I hope you are able to use alternative methods to teach them. Some of that new math scared the heck out me. Way back when, I was almost a math major when I got drafted. Fortunately I became an artillery officer and was XO of an artillery unit in Vietnam instead of tromping beating the bush. I honestly think math may have saved my life.

Instead of using Common Core or New Math, I teach math the way it was taught to me and try to make everything concrete and related to the Real World. Those that care learn quite a lot. Those that do not care fall by the way side as they should.

Terrifying for two reasons: #1 his own ignorance and #2 his disbelief in his own ignorance. Just goes to show that intelligence and ability to learn are not the same thing. Learning is more a function of attitude than aptitude.

Well I teach in the Houston area and these are largely the people who's parents vote Shelia Jackson Lee into office over and over again. So I have no illusions as to what to expect from my students. I do however try my best to actually get them to think for themselves. Instead of just following the party line.

No, I went to the election results of many large cities (in late November 2016) and listed them in a post based on whether Trump or Hitlery had more votes in that city. Just a long list of cities under Hitlery, and a few cities listed under Trump. No idea why I can't find the post now.

My point is would the big cities still carry the election if everyone in the outlying areas voted? Big cities vote "D", rural areas vote "R". If everyone in the rural areas voted would our election results differ? Your analysis of Trump or Hillary above seems to indicate that rural areas can take the election. While Hillary took the big cities, Trump won much of the rest in most states. Hillary's total popular vote seem to come to fruition because of California, a lot of population in California, which is one of the biggest advantages for the electoral system. If not California could almost dominate the rest of the country with just a little other help.

I don't have the data on eligible voter population large city vs non-large-city. In 2016 it appears that states with lower population and no large cities made the difference between Hitlery and Trump. Another factor is that electoral votes are done "winner take all" in all but a few states. In 2016 that also made a difference.

Voting is a waste of time since it amounts to tweaking the tyranny at best, perhaps slowing it in some areas while it continues on its course for absolute control. It is where governments always go. All who work for the government will always seek more control to ensure the safety of their employment. Who would work to put themselves out of a job? Yet that is what we expect of all these traitorous fools who are elected to office and they know all the while they will only do something that appears to effect liberty to get votes while continuing on the same slide into the most controlling government to ever exist.

Do you feel term limits might help prevent some of the tyranny, control? Perhaps even term limits for most government workers, except service people such as maintenance people?

Here is my recommendation for term limits; one term in office followed by one term in prison. What exists in America today is a socialist-communist democracy. Voting for anyone to replace the others in the hopes that they will be different is an exercise in futility. As my communist daughter found out voting for Obama did not stop the war and voting for Trump or Bush did not change the socialist nature of the government one bit. The only difference between the parties is what lie they will tell you to get elected then they will do what they plan to do anyway. It is amazing the Republicans always point to the national debt doubling under a Democratic president while ignoring the same fact is true under Republican presidents. The characters on the stage change but the story plot remains the same while those who vote are mesmerized by all the pontificating done by their representatives claiming to really want a change.

Do you have some suggestions as to how we put people into office if not by vote? North Korea doesn't seem to have this problem. As far as the debt, I believe we need a budget, a real one like I've got. If there is no money for the new boat that I gotta have, then I sell my Corvette. I feel term limits might also attract more non-politicians that actually have some good non-political ideas. It would be like getting a bunch of Trumps. We could also insist by law that they come through on their campaign promises, like moving our embassy to Jerusalem, like getting rid of the Dept of Education, Energy, the IRS, and bunch more of the more useless that have not performed as they were intended.

I don't know that I am able to invent a way to choose leaders that won't mislead. It seems to be human nature that if someone wants to lead they are immoral at heart and will immediately deceive others about their intentions.
A balanced budget is impossible with a fiat currency. Since all money is borrowed and there is no production by the government there is no income to offset the debt and since all money is debt there is no way to repay it.
The bureaucracies function exactly as intended just not as promised. The 'leaders' understood this when they created them. There may be a few people who think they are honest and want to provide for protection of liberty their voice is lost in the crowd who desire the rule of tyranny, or worse they tinker with the structure that is tyranny thinking they can adjust it to be something different. If you have a destructive plant in your garden you cannot adjust it into something else by pruning it.
Donald Trump is no different that Hillary except by method. He has no intention of repealing the ACA or any other promise he made to get elected. At best they may tinker with and rebrand it (as in; "we need to repeal and replace it" which is an admission that they have not intention of repeal and get rid of it) while those who voted for them seem to be happy about the Republicans are at least trying. Trump admitted in an interview with Leslie Stahl from 60 minutes prior to his being sworn in that he would not repeal the ACA, yet those who voted for him continue to believe he is 'different'.
Jefferson wrote a letter to Washington expressing concern that if the government got involved with education the government would demand a curriculum that would teach children that tyranny is the same as freedom and you would raise up a generation that would demand tyranny. That has been accomplished. The current representatives represent 'wants' of the voters not the rights of voters. America is far from being a republic and trying to vote out the scoundrels results in electing new scoundrels with the same intentions, just different promises. The more people who can vote the more likely you are to achieve tyranny.
If the constitution was an enforceable contract, meaning we could either eliminate the corrupt leaders by proving they were not supporting the document or at least refuse to obey unconstitutional laws we might have a chance even though libertarians are far outnumbered by those that prefer slavery. It is not enforceable by any officer or court and therefore meaningless when referred to as in; "The federal government cannot own land and therefore cannot charge me to use it or forbid me to use it."
It might be that the only way to live free was discovered by Estienne de la Boetie over 500 years ago, live unobserved by the tyrant and he will not interfere with you. This becomes incredibly more difficult with the advent of computers and programs that can track everyone and everything they do and report deviants to those who will enforce tyranny. Voting for tyrants will not eliminate them.

To what end? Too many people who are voting these days are not sufficiently prepared (or interested) enough to make intelligent decisions hence, we have what we have in Washington! The 30 second soundbite that "tugs" at the heartstrings (all by cynical design I might add) are generally the shock troops what drives people to vote the way that they do.

This is the level of sophistication that is being brought to bear on minds made of mush! Indoctrination by the left has essentially destroyed the tried and true use of critical thinking that used to be taught in school. This is especially of younger voters. You can tell just by the activities that are taking place across the country in the edifices of higher education that there is little if any Critical Thinking being done by the Antifas followers!

Democrats (all), RINOs (70% of R's), the left, primarily the Progressives have co-opted all of the institutions that used to have been the line of defense of our once great Republic, not any more! Yes, the Establishment Republicans meekly follow their Democrat counterparts (Swamp denizens that is) who have embraced Saul Allinsky, Antonio Gramsci and the rest of that cadre, along with of course the Internationalist Cabal including the likes of the Bilderbergers, Trilateralists, CFR and the oligarchs who really run things! The names most are already very familiar with, you know the ones who fund all of the loony leftwing causes including Antifas!

The side that organizes and controls its base the best wins the day! That is the reason that the Progressives are essentially ahead of the rest of us, they have been plotting this garbage ever since Joe Stalin figured out how to "energize" the Useful Idiots of the American left!

    Truth be told.......

Reference your comment, "Too many people who are voting these days are not sufficiently prepared (or interested) enough to make intelligent decisions". I would venture to say the "majority" of people that actually vote are incompetent to make a proper decision for the good of the country or even for their personal real benefit. So many democrats prove my point. Most vote based on what someone else voted for, how their parents always voted, or some other insignificant perceived personal gain (like welfare, free cell phones, socialized medicine {Obamacare}, etc.). So it does behove us to just get people like ourselves to vote the way we want them to.

Hopefully Trump will be able to accomplish a lot of things that the other side can no longer whine and complain about. Hopefully he will be able to even bring down the debt by eliminating some of the government that we perceive as being democratic and not really accomplishing anymore than providing government jobs for people that have no other skills. Departments of the government should have to demonstrate on an annual basis the accomplishments they've achieved in "Making America Great Again". No accomplishments, disband them, let them get real jobs that actually contribute to the country.

Full Disclosure: I have the entire FL and NY Voter Files, and volunteer to do Voter Integrity Research!
(I am getting my hands on the TX data soon).

    1) 2016 National Turnout was 58%
    2) Broward County was 71% (but we are 2/3 Democrat), only 25% of our votes were on Election day!
(Early Voting was 50% and Mail in 24%)
    3) Tell me when Early Voting starts in SOLID BLUE states! It only exist in previously red or swing states.
This is smart on the democrats part, so they can get out the vote and get people to vote sooner.
I know someone who hurried up and voted for Hillary before the FACTS could change his mind! LOL

Now 71% Voter turnout is IMPRESSIVE. That is literally near full voter turnout in reality. First, we are clearly over-registered. We have MORE registered voters than the census shows we have eligible voters. Second, we have huge numbers of people who move out every year. And we have found HUNDREDS of dead people on our voter rolls as well. Using a ROUGH number of 10% overstated (estimates include that as many as 5% move out of the county every year). We have a process that requires 6-8yrs before allowing names to be removed by an automated process!!! So IMAGINE how overstated our voter rolls can be!

If you only assume they are overstated by 10% then 71% turnout looks more like 80% turnout.

Implying that only 2 in 10 eligible voters did not vote in 2016 in our county. Wow. That is also a stark comparison to the just more than HALF the people who voted nationwide.

Now, at the same time, we have data that shows MANY of these people are NOT ONLY REGISTERED to vote in NY, some of them may have (we can't say they did, because NY doesn't require an ID, and if it was mailed in, etc).

We also can show that MANY people voted after they died. Almost always by Mail. And that the SOE does not submit these for investigation...

We have people who registered to vote in more than one county in FL, and appear to have voted. (Same First, Last, Middle, and Birthdate: Plus a consistent voting pattern. Used to vote in person, since moving to another county, now votes in old county by mail, or using early voting).

And we can show other interesting things LIKE: An absolute refusal to prosecute these cases. Instead, they just remove the voter record hiding the data. (Causing people like me to build systems to keep it perpetually).

Also, we find in that the SOEs are WILLFULLY Negligent in these counties. Including documentation of procedures that purposefully let people vote who should not. Note: In todays world, your address determines WHO you are eligible to vote for, and what issues. Therefore, if your address is not longer accurate, it is a PROBLEM, especially if you moved away from the COUNTY in question (you could vote in 2 counties). FL has done some things to prevent voting in 2 counties, but it is LATE, and not perfect.

    https://www.screencast.com/t/3w6cE91z

That shows in Hillsborough County how they DO NOT want you to check/confirm their address in any way.
Because the person would have to vote provisionally, and in most cases if they moved without changing their address, they screwed up... We can't have that (responsible voters).

In small counties, this crap is harder to do. Because the fewer voters makes it easier to know what is going on.

Here is another thing we have... Over Occupied Houses. The following link is to a photo of a house that has 11 Active Registered Voters living there. We have TONS of these, per county. We having Residence addresses that are COMMERCIAL Buildings (expressly prohibited in the law).

    https://www.screencast.com/t/xuYX3cuZ...

We have HUNDREDS of voter records who have a RESIDENCE address of the Supervisor of Elections Office. So she can get their mail in ballots delivered straight to their office.

And the KICKER: To date, they have REFUSED to take Jury Duty forms where people say they cannot serve because they are not citizens (under penalty of perjury), but are registered to vote (where they signed they are citizens UNDER penalty of Perjury). NOPE, they don't want to do that in these heavily democrat counties... Because it could punish a democrat. And we all know that the laws are weapons FOR democrats to use,
not to be used Against Democrats.

Again, we have hundreds of examples, per county (usually the big democrat counties):
    https://www.screencast.com/t/8sbkfylh

Has 9 active voters living here. That is 9 voters (18+)... Not including any children.
All with the same last name, BTW!

And if we could get the NATIONWIDE list of all voters, and cross reference them You will find MORE registered voters than we have citizens, by far. And you will quickly identify those who early/mail vote in swing states, and come back and vote in their home state. And the STATES know this, and THAT IS WHY they DO NOT WANT to turn over their data! Otherwise, what is the harm in turning over the data if it is pristine?

    Its Crazy!

The same is true here in Oregon. The west side which includes Portland and Eugene are democrat but east of the Cascades in the rural cities most are Republican. Our state is blue because of the coastal cities, but I truly believe if everyone on the east side would vote we would out number them!

Getting out the vote has been a problem for decades. Its telling when the media shouts the praises of a "huge turnout" when only 62% of eligible voters actually voted. Compare that with Iraq in the first open election held there after the fall of Saddam Hussein, where (if memory serves) nearly 99% of the people voted.
Our country deserves better than the abysmal voter turnouts we regularly record. Our children diserve better. And if we could get a 99% turnout, we could also "turn out" the Schumers, Pelosis, McCains and the other far-left Liberal Socialist-Communists that infect our government and the Congress.

I believe it is similar in most of the coastal states both east and west. NY has 5 dots of red showing where Hillary won while the entire rest of the state is bright blue. Sadly those 5 dots of red are where the majority of the idiot population live. It is almost as though we have the city dwellers against the rural folks in most states.
