    CLASS - 1
Practice this.-> 1 minute breathing cycle.
Start by INHALING for 3 seconds
On the inhale HOLD for 3 seconds.
    EXHALE for 3 seconds
With NOTHING IN YOUR LUNGS - HOLD DAMMIT - for 3 seconds.
    ...(get the idea?)
Okay, now extend the cycle from 3 to 4...
    Until you've attained 15 second step-times
    That's right.
    15 secs inhale
    15 secs hold on inhale
    15 secs exhale
15 secs hold on zero air.
You will never breath the same way again.
You will be training your lungs to work much more efficiently.

    CLASS - 2
Okay, you got your breathing down. NO?
    Then don't be a Sniper....
You'll need breath control for your shot.
Let's assume..... now that you're comfortable with your breathing; How do you hold your breath for your shot?
Do you hold on the inhale, with some are in your lungs, or what?
Here it is -> Inhale Slow, Exhale Slow, Inhale Slow and then WITHOUT PUSHING ANY EXTRA AIR OUT - STOP.
HOLD YOUR BREATH ON A RELAXED STOP OF BREATHING.
No tension in your lungs, throat or anything else.
You are essentially not holding anything in.
You relax into your exhale, confident that you've got that 10 seconds of calm.

Excellent! My breathing is not there yet but I am working on it. This is slightly different than I was taught. I was instructed to take a full breath and let out a little and make the shot while relaxed...
      Thank you darkstate.
      Regards,
      O.A.

Okay people.... Let's focus on that critical 10 seconds of the SHOT. You have a real-nice rifle. You are dressed in your best camo-suit. You know all about the ballistics and the external atmospheric factors relating to the delivery of your little pellet of death. You are the one left to finish the deed. Let's start with breathing.

Well, seems to be, there is no actual interest in learning Sniper skills. That's a shame...

      Hello darkstate,
I believe there is interest, but as you have stated it is difficult to feel comfortable handing out advice publicly to unknown entities. Perhaps you could provide general advice publicly for those of us in the Gultch who could benefit from even the most basic advice, without giving too much away. We certainly appreciate whatever knowledge you care to share. I am no Sniper or sharpshooter, although I do fairly well in the field, but some here do not have even that level of experience.
      Regards,
      O.A.

I am a lousy rifle shot [eye/hand cross dominant] but a competition-class pistol shot - that means I CAN learn it. I'm a pretty good pistol instructor, also, including having my own opinions on tactics and machinery. But I'm with OA, there's no way I want any of my information and that item connected when I don't know who's around. I also was taught [and use] the full breath-partial breath-relax-accept the heart beat-squeeze-how did that happen? technique. I'll try your breathing assignment and see what happens.

          Hello winterwind,
Where is darkstate? I am waiting for further instruction...
If he doesn't reply soon we must reply to a previous entry of his, so as to gain his attention...
          Regards,
          O.A.

Well, there does seem to be some attention then in this type of skill. The one or two people I've replied to individually seemed to of been sober and clear thinking. I did see the "gig" to go shooting deer but am not interested in that type of work. I'd like to impart my skills into people that would appreciate such things.

As for sharing knowledge, then yes, I can do so.
I'll collect some of my notes and start to post.

I am located in Portland Oregon. But, I could respond to training questions if remote advice is nequested. For advice though I would have to know a bit about the person I'm discussing such matters with. Nothing intrusive. I just need to know that I'm not dealing with someone that is essentially deranged or has some voices talking in their head.

I do like hearing from Texas. Have a friend or two that live there in Amarillo. You may still wish to have some advice on shooting techniques that has probably not made it to any of the books you've been reading. Back in '78 and '79 we realized that shooting, the better one was, was controlled immensely more by mental conditioning. Drop me an e-mail and I'll teach you how to breath once a minute.
