The introduction of digital service allowed for the incremental billing for line usage (regulation) and the destruction of anonymity. I'm no longer sure if analog line service exists anywhere anymore.

Eliminating line service and forcing wireless service opens up many opportunities for an individual to be monitored and recorded, spoofed, and to be isolated from information.
