This is so Rand like. As if it came from about halfway into the book, right before everyone starves and loses their jobs...and grapefruit..

Nutty Nancy would fit right as another socialist politician in Atlas Shrugged.
But I doubt Ayn Rand could ever imagine any of her characters ever being beyond stupid enough to say, "Let's pass this bill to see what's in it."
I know she added "beyond the controversy" to the sentence, but who in the world would make, as Harry Reid called it, a "LAWWW of the land" out of anything no one completely read?
Oh, yeah, I know--a Jackass Party of Commie Clowns. And only their party to boot!

Actually, this quote from Pelosi almost more appropriately belongs out of 1984 by George Orwell (it sounds like "Newspeak" to me...).

That quote makes me think of something silly Monty Python would come up with.

Even though I have the Grail DVD tucked away someplace, I had forgotten about that scene~

I discovered Monty Python in 1971-72 in England as a youngling there. It and Benny Hill were the only comedy shows I could wrap my head around, and Monty stretched it a lot. British humor is very weird and dark sometimes. Grail was one of the movies you really had to be drunk or something to say "That was good" instead of "Well, that was different". Though they did like naked breasts a lot.....and "killer rabbits"...

I discovered them at about the same time during summer breaks when I was finishing college, getting revenge for being drafted by using the GI Bill.
I actually saw the Grail movie on PBS due to spotting it while browsing through a TV Guide. When I saw the knight whose idiotic courage got all his limbs cut off with voluminous spews of blood, I was laughing but very surprised that was actually being shown on PBS.

The problem is the Republicrats did the SAME THING! It is proof nothing is passed with any meaning to it, it is all preset by their patrons and sponsors, who tell them what "deals to give". They both have to go, Paul Ryan is right up there with Felony Pelosi.

There is no news I've heard that the House did not read what they voted yea for. I don't think it was all of RINO Ryan's so-called Obamacare Lite version but I'm not sure.
Now the Senate is having at it with writing their own bill.
Tedium extraordinaire negotiations shall then commence.
I'll make my own judgement about a bill that becomes an act when this huffing and puffing racing of snails careens to it's all so exciting conclusion.
It's too early to call them stupid slugs, IMO. Not saying I won't. Kinda likely I just might.
All I was hearing before the election was REPEAL~not a rewrite. Hannity keeps saying that's making his head want to explode.
Preserving assistance for preexisting medical conditions appears to be the crux of all the bother.

The sad thing about Ms. Pelosi is that there are so many people who must believe what she says because they keep electing her.You might call her a fool, but doesn't that make all her constituents that vote for her fools as well? Apparently, that entire segment of California is unhinged. Could be -- isn't that where Berkely is located?

"... constituents that vote for her fools as well?"

Yes, just like the fools in NY that made the Evil Hag a senator. (Disclosure: I live in NY but for some odd reason I seem to be immune to such idiocy, but my vote doesn't seem to matter around here.)

Oh, new York has it's own issues though, my wife's family is from mid upstate. Their taxes are ridiculous and mainly to support NY city and it's "style". It is a tough competition between NY and NJ to see who can come up with the best scam...

Lincoln must be turning in his grave. "Government of the people, by the people and for the people shall not perish from the Earth" Pelosi believes that the people exist to support the government rather than the other way around.

And the tune plays very well where she comes from. The peasants do not need much, other than 6 figures a month to pay rent..in an incredibly skewed economy there..

This is the view that wealth is a social product and a "natural resource". She would most likely emphatically deny Marxism as such, all the while assuming property has the same fiat status of the dollars she votes to inflate.

Indeed, although I think a lot of them see Marxism simply as an easier way to gain power, look at Venezuela for example, the people are not sheering for their leaders anymore, now are they?

Nancy Pelosi is bat shit crazy! Issue all protesters a permit to protest in her neighborhood only and see how quick she sings a different tune. It is easy to see how these rich elites go so stupid but if she drove to work every day in a 10 year old Chevy to a $30K job and had to pay for everything like the rest of us she sure would be a different kind of idiot.

Can you imagine what Pelosi would say if Social Security monies that were given back complete to the the working populace from which it was taken. Maybe if investing and finance was taught in in schools we would be better off. Maybe a richer nation for it.

Couldn't have put it much better myself, Owlsrayne. I'm retired now, but worked at upper blue collar wages most of my life and took saving/investing quite seriously. If SS were taken from me I'd be a bit pissed from the robbery, but my investments would carry me through without damage to my lifestyle. Interestingly, the amount of money taken from me for SS since I was 16 years old is actually more than I was able to put aside for investing starting around age 35 (thank you for the tax break, Ronald Reagan), but my investments have increased and are paying more than SS. Your observation that a major problem is the fact that finance and investing is not taught in K-12 as it should be is spot on! It seems high school graduates (or even college grads) these days can spew PC bromides and paraphrase Karl Marx, but can't balance a checkbook.

Yes, but let us not forget that it ws a "Progressive" program, and only got put in place after our near emperor FDR stacked the Supreme Court and threatened to keep stacking it with "his people" until they agreed it was constitutional. He had had several failures before that really pissed him off. He was one of the weirdest patriot presidents ever. They legalized theft from everyone, because it was "fair". I agree with the sentiment, but stealing from one family for another is hardly fair. Progressive policies treat things as individual events and never as a frigging huge intertwined mess that it is. Do one thing, screw something else up... over and over.

Mrs. Pelosi would say it is stealing because if the people keep their money she can take it a give it to someone else she feels has a right to it. Thus you are stealing your money from the person she wants to have it. very simple.
