Why is it that so many people, supposedly intelligent and informed, cannot see this simple fact.
I'm trying to write a book explaining why this is so i.e. Why all governments are based on force. It will include
" I believe that the child should be stimulated and controlled in his work through the life of the community." John Dewey My Pedagogic Creed
" I believe that we violate the child's nature and render difficult the best ethical results, by introducing the child too abruptly to a number of special studies, of reading, writing, geography, etc., out of relation to this social life." Ibid.
” It turns out that compulsory education, a feat accomplished during the Progressive Era, was also a compulsory indoctrination into Progressive
thought and twentieth-century Protestantism. Arthur Calhoun stated in 1919, “The fondest wish of Utopian writers was coming true, the child was
passing from its family into the custody of community experts.” 6
"The power to shape children’s futures was taken from their parents and put into the hands of the government. Starting in this era, as John Swett, the founder of public education in California, stated, schoolchildren belonged not “to the parents, but to the State, to society, to the country.” 7
7. Quoted in Rothbard, “The Progressive Era and the Family.”

Harper Collins Christian 2012
The socialist invasion of the mind snatchers of children has rendered America near to helpless in preventing this descent into darkness.
"What do you want Ellsworth ?"
"Power, Petey. I want to rule. Like my spiritual predecessors. But I’m luckier than they were. I inherited the fruit of their efforts and I shall be the one who’ll see the great dream made real. I see it all around me today. I recognise it. I don’t like it. I didn’t expect to like it. Enjoyment is not my destiny. I shall find such satisfaction as my capacity permits. I shall rule."
"Whom...?"
"You. The world. It’s only a matter of discovering the lever. If you learn how to rule one single man’s soul, you can get the rest of mankind. It’s the soul, Peter, the soul. Not whips or swords or fire or guns. That’s why the Caesars, the Attilas, the Napoleons were fools and did not last. We will. The soul, Peter, is that which can’t be ruled. It must be broken. Drive a wedge in, get your fingers on it – and the man is yours. You won’t need a whip – he’ll bring it to you and ask to be whipped. Set him in reverse – and his own mechanism will do your work for you. Use him against himself. Want to know how it’s done? See if I ever lied to you. See if you haven’t heard all this for years, but didn’t want to hear, and the fault is yours, not mine..."

Sadly her fiction has become our reality. Philosophies have consequences. Inculcating one into a society requires patience and tenacity. The Collectivists have done their insidious best over the past hundred and twenty years and have succeeded. I have no idea what it will take to re-introduce Reason and Logic and Objectivism into America nor how much time it will require.

Written by somebody who was a child at the time - Stones repeatedly has stories of kids being forced to work all day to build a road with a little shovel and bucket while constantly being told they "need to sacrifice for the betterment of others" as they slowly starve to death. Life-changing book for me.
