" An Adelaide Islamic preacher was under police investigation last night after he was filmed calling for all Buddhists and Hindus to be killed, prompting fears for his safety. "
'fears for his safety' !! Here in Australia, and I suppose many other places, Hindus and Buddhists may cause amusement or provoke disagreement but are generally harmless. In fact they are at the more productive end of our economic spectrum. Conversely, we have had followers of another religion roaming the streets smashing police cars, calling for decapitations and who are over-represented in armed gangs. We have quite restrictive gun laws here, but you know how it is, some 'groups' seem to be exempt.
I suggest that in the view of Ayn Rand, Zen Buddhism represented the clap-trap of the sixties as does post-modernist, carbon changed deconstructional gender studies exhibit the worst of today's academia. I do not know how to stop clap-trap. I do know that stopping all or at least a substantial reduction in government money going into academia would help. Yes, science included, science is now used/distorted to further 'progressivist' policy. some of that stuff is harmless, some amusing, some very harmful, none of it beneficial to the people who have been forced to pay for it. As for Islam, MM is right, there were, and there are, many ok people who follow Islam. There is no excuse for the western 'progressives' who defend not just nonsense but the supporters and perpetrators of violence. James Delingpole, for one, says that these people are a greater threat than militant Islamism.
Thank God for Islam. Now we can all hate a religion without offending our Christian neighbors.
Ayn Rand excoriated Zen Buddhism. I find much in such works upon which to reflect, such as "The Book of Five Rings" by Miyamoto Musashi and of course "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu. Martial arts in particular have their origin in the studies of men who eschewed weapons though needing to defend themselves against brigands and soldiers. Then, there are the "running monks." But I would never have presumed to have argued the point with Ayn Rand.
And, so, too, with Islam, do we have a large, wide, and deep culture on three continents that can be whatever you want to find it in. Myself, I found the coffee merchant, Abu Taqiyya, in Cairo 1600. (See "Making Big Money in 1600" under Books here on Galt's Gulch.)
I am sure that many of them are evil, as are Christians, Jews, Hindus, Democrats, Republicans, Rotarians, Lions, and Kiwanis...

Where is the outrage?
Why are we not supporting the Generals that are trying to fight the Muslim Brotherhood?
