While it’s ridiculously early to look at Nov 2018, but on that next election day there will be 23 Democrat and 2 Independent (Democrat caucusing) Senators, and only 8 Republican Senators, up for reelection. So if Trump can successfully pull off half of his agenda – particularly if he can fix Obamacare, stem immigration and create working class jobs – there’s an opportunity for Republicans to obtain a “super majority” in the Senate, effectively crushing the Democrat hopes for rebuilding their Congressional base.
The Rs have a lot to show me before they can earn any measure of my respect - they are self serving globalists. The Ds are lost cause and deserve to be buried as a party in the dustbin of US history - they are not American.
This country needs:
6 to 12 political parties
Run off elections at every level of government
A NONE OF THESE option on every ballot with no refunds/reimbursement/or free second chance if NOT wins.
Immediate expulsion from office for ANY politician that violates their oath of office.
An active and enforceable TREASON charge that is beyond the immunity of any pardon.
A super majority is nothing short of a certainty that either party will screw us more fully than a congressional mixed bag wrestling to pass pieces of its agenda. The best we can hope for 2 parties or 10 is grid lock.

Next to accomplish most of the other it will require constitutional amendments or action by each state's legislatures to change the local laws. Georgia and Louisiana have the requirement that the winner get 50% +1 vote to win or there is a runoff. If all states did that and at all levels up to and including the presidential it would make a large difference in the elections. That would force the run off you were talking about.
