Hi, I own a couple small lodges in the mountains of California, a winter ski and summer lake resort. I began with $30K in 1979. We managed to grow the value to a couple million in the 80s, under Reagan, but have pretty much just survived after 2001. We're an industry leader in an industry segment that suffers continual unfair competition, regulation, and taxation. The most recent tax increase, which I believed to be inevitable, just began this quarter. SInce I felt I could not stop it, I joined it and became the president of the new district. I wish I could have stopped it instead!
