Fantástico! I will have to pick this up again on the morrow. :) Have a great time. :) Dance, live and enjoy. Remember the train bombing in Madrid. Our President has made all Americans greater potential hostages for trade and negotiations with terrorists since this latest Bergdahl episode. Please be careful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgitRq_0... O.A.
He has, the idiot. It has given me a great deal of consternation, as my kids are going as well. That being said, I will be careful. And thank you for the lovely Flamenco! 💃 NMA
OK Me and my old jokes. A Scotsman fell asleep in a hammock wearing a kilt. A young lady passing by noticed him, and was curious as to what he wore under the kilt. She decided that she'd take a peek and not waken him. She peeked and saw that he wore nothing under the kilt. Amused, she took a blue ribbon from her hair and carefully so as not to awaken him tied it around his manhood. Upon awakening, the Scot went to relieve himself. Lifting the kilt, he saw the ribbon and said, "I don't know where ye been, but I'm glad ye won first prize."
Has been done up as a song. I've heard it. somewhere.
Also: "What's worn under the kilt? There's nothin' worn under the kilt, lassie, it's all in fine workin' order."
Perhaps some fine day someone will invent a NEW joke about Scots and their kilts, bagpipes and haggis. "Why," I asked a piper, "does the piper always walk about while playing?" "It would nae be to get away from the sound, would it?" he replied.
As a boy scout, I had the opportunity to be an usher at the Gathering of the Clans at the University of Michigan stadium. Let me just say when those hundred plus pipers came marching out all playing like in the movie Tunes of Glory, I got goosebumps. Didn't they call them in WW2 "The Ladies From Hell?"
Glad you do. I have never met a more dedicated group of men and women than Scout leaders. When my grandson went from cub scout to eagle scout, I saw such positive influences on him that I became active and was a cub scout leader for a year. A truly outstanding organization.
well, the Girl Scouts have gone off the ranch the last few years. Their recent ties to Planned Parenthood and honoring progressive women has left a sour taste. But I was scout and leader until my daughter graduated HS.
Yes. It's a shame. Liberalism is a disease and like a cold that can turn into pneumonia it is insidious. When it ruins a great program like the girl scouts you find out real fast that "The price of liberty is eternal vigilance."
Most individual Troops are still great, but the council level and national have gone progressive. They've caved to the gay lobby. I stopped my funding of anything beyond local troops. I set up a savings account for what I used to contribute to the Friends of Scouting campaign and allow the local scoutmasters to award camperships of up to 50% of the cost of summer camp to scouts with financial difficulties.
There's no better organization for young men than BS. Even if they don't attain Eagle, they will be exposed to more varied items that might lead to careers, hobbies, sports, avocations, etc. than in any other organization. It is so disappointing when a young man drops out to "play sports" or just because they prefer to sit at home and play video games rather than go camping or learn knots, or such things.
Girl Scouts has been lefty for quite a while. Again, I only support local troops that I know the leaders are instilling traditional values.
I'm glad you're contributing on a local level. So many people give of their time and money, and all the churches and synagogues and temples who donate their space make scouting viable. I dropped out at one level below Eagle at 16. But David (grandson) has more character and determination than me. Also, his dad encouraged him every step of the way. He's now 22, but I still have the "My grandson is an Eagle Scout" sticker on the trunk of my car.
When I get around to talking scouting with folks, I'll invariably find an older gentleman who identified that he was a former Scout, but didn't earn his Eagle. It is one of the few regrets that people readily admit. I've not yet heard an older guy speak about regrets on not winning the "big game" or being able to turn pro.
I too, dropped out prior to earning Eagle. And it is a regret that I have. But I too have a Proud Eagle Parent bumper sticker.
yes, my other "son" has moved up through the ranks quickly. a real leader. he is currently in an undisclosed location. but we know he is ok as of this minute
MOBY... in the mornin', in the mornin', MOBY in the mornin'... Good Mornin' Texas on KEGL!
Brings back memories of a better time. I used to listen to this on KEGL back in 86 or 87 when I was livin' in Lewisville.
There were two songs that stuck with me from Moby in the Mornin' on KEGL. This was one, and the only rendition of the other I could find is a rather poor one... "Texas B*".
Here's a link to it, but a warning that the song does indeed use the b-word repeatedly...
Bagpipes are...well they are what they are, but for putting kilts to good use in a musical context, I look no further than JAM - "Whale #12": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqlxdZ7gS...
['Really, really wish those guys hadn't broken up - Yuki's melodic sense (and sense-of-life) were off the charts, and I could listen to this tune for Onda-san's bass line alone... ]

I love the bagpipe joke

And here's the lyrics since they're not all that clear.

I just liked them both because of the "twist" ending they each had. Ah, memories...
