Tesla, though a fine inventor, had one financially fatal flaw. He sold his patent rights to Westinghouse. Granted, the situation was pretty dire. JP Morgan was savvy enough and wealthy enough to outfox Edison, Tesla, and Westinghouse. Arguably, Edison is the real John Galt. Once JP Morgan bought out Edison Electric, Edison never set foot in what became General Electric.
