Interesting story of gnostical turpitude. Society does it again in cultures around the world.

A finite amount of Human Consciousness...
Actually he was referring to awareness of the world and consciousness giving a mind to retreat to.

The moral of these stories...only to an extent can one ignore the culture or a tyrant and carve out your own happiness...but there comes a point when one must engage in change or flee.
