The Southern Poverty Law Center: Legitimate Resource or Ruling Class Alinsky Front Group? (Two Strike Policy in Effect)

Since Mark Potok and his group are cited here from time to time as a legitimate resource, I thought I'd open up discussion on it.
I say the SPLC is an Alinsky front group which was set up specifically to demonize all opponents to our Ruling Class and as “Hate Groups” thereby delegitimizing and stifling any input which that group might have in public discourse.

    I don't much care if they are or are not a group with ties to Alinsky. They pretty much suck all on their own. Their secret sauce is in labeling any group the far left disagrees with as a hate group.. this has caused them to occasionally sound really absurd.

      @iroseland, just for clarification, I never said that they had ties to Alinsky, just that they were an Alinsky front group.
      What I mean is that they engage in the tactics of Saul Alinsky.
      As you said, "Their secret sauce is in labeling any group the far left disagrees with as a hate group."
      This is Alinsky Tactics 101.

    What evidence do you have that SPLC is in any way associated with Saul Alinsky? I just did a word search for "Alinsky" in that article you posted, and didn't get any results. If you're going to call them a Marxist front group, then you need to establish a legitimate connection to Marxism.

    From what I can tell, that article is basically just trying to claim that bigotry isn't actually bigotry.

        Don't worry, I plan on reading the full article when I have more time. I was just doing a quick word search to see if I could find the part where SPLC admits to having connections to Saul Alinsky. I didn't find it with the word search, but I'm open to the possibility that maybe the connection was stated more implicitly rather than directly, or that perhaps there is a connection somewhere else in some other article. If you can find any such article or newsclip in which any founder or member of the SPLC admits to reading and/or being influenced by Alinsky's work, I would love to see it.

        I'm a huge skeptic, and I always demand evidence for any and all claims, but I do make a point of conceding a valid argument when such evidence is presented.

          I don't know if SPLC has ever said they are aligned with the precepts of Alinski's doctrine, but they certainly ACT like they are. Martin Luther King told us to judge people based on the content of their character. Applying this principal to the SPLC, basing the analysis on assumption that their actions reflect where their heart is - they are dedicated to the destruction of our republic and want to replace it with a society that Castro and most third world dictators would find "familiar".
