Mr. Yee’s Profession

Leland Yee is the sole Democratic senator who voted against the very, very liberal, Democrat-written state budget, because it didn’t spend enough. Leland Yee is the man who for many years persecuted the University of California, a constitutionally independent entity, attempting to subject it to governance by the legislature.

I had a true ROFL moment in about the seventh paragraph.
We have that kind here, refer to the lefty politicians now in the news and the courts in our state of NSW (Australia).
I suggest there is a correlation between power and hypocrisy,
and the aggressive use of expletives.

Does your moniker 'Lucky' refer to your 'state of origin'?

The name is not even from Luciano, chosen just for euphony.
Ha- 'state of origin', an excuse for a game series, Australians use the word football, sometimes rugby, for a game no one else would call it that, to me the only true football is soccer. Footie- was once the national winter game, now it is watching My Kitchen Rules on TV. This has to be the worst silliest inane and vastly popular program ever.

Fortunately, there are heaps of Australians who haven't succumbed to the addiction of American-style TV. At least the ones I know well only use the tube to put them to sleep on occasion... unless the local team is playing a game of footie on tv.
I must admit, I am amazed at how many cooking shows there are on Australian tv, even one that uses that venue to interview national politicians.
I just returned from about 2 years in Australia, and I'd be there now if immigration wasn't so difficult for people over 50. Will be doing biz here in the US until I can work out a new visa.
You recall the news furor about the Reserve Bank paying bribes in foreign countries to sell their plastic notes? What was your take on that?

This was a few years ago, cannot remember the outcome.
My guess is that real bribery is not part of the culture here, low key after-the-contract bribery such as bottles of top Scotch, dinners, tickets to shows and game finals is fairly common. Exporting is different. I feel quite uncomfortable about bribery even when it is giving their own money. There is always the implication of theft.

I was amazed at the naive tone of the news report, as if bribery in overseas business was unheard of. The fact that the Reserve Bank was involved should have automatically tipped off anyone that dirty tricks and illegality would be the standard operating procedure. (Of course, the media regularly provide cover for banksters activities.) Bankers think they are the wolves and the rest of the populace are the sheep, and no mere law gets in the way of their monopoly creation of fiat money for themselves without any risk or investment of their own.

Well, politics is very close to the oldest profession. But, I think, less honest about it.

"The world's oldest profession is actually that of a salesman. Many people think something else is the world's oldest profession, but that's really just a sub-section of sales."
