Although this article really keys on Millenials, I think this broadly applies to anyone with an entitlement attitude. I really love #6. Enjoy.

That is the single most "Politically Incorrect" piece I have ever read. The liberal left will certainly denounce this author as some sort of right wing lunatic.
Too bad he is spot on!

Good article. However, I think this article should remove the word "millennials" from the title. I've met plenty of people outside of my generation that display these same qualities.

Oh, and if you think millennial are bad (and they definitely are) wait till you meet some of the members of generation Z (a.k.a. post-millennials).

Here's an example: MTV ran a survey to see what this next generation wants to be known as. The answer: "The Founders". That's the level of entitlement we're going to be dealing with in the generation after millennials. They think they're "founders".

Millennials got the way they are because they were brought up by their Baby Boom parents who also think that they are entitled to all the freebies that they can get. I love the t-shirt that says, "Contrary to what you think, no one owes you anything."

I agree. Its more wide spread than one generation, and the younger are farther from the experience of freedom. The 'education' they receive is misleading even to those with some thinking ability. Very few know what a responsibility freedom is. Have any have earned the voice they feel is their right in deciding the future for others? No, none.

As a "millenial", I often express utter contempt for my cohorts when they support someone like Bernie Sanders who engages in economic theft.

Just because you're a loser, doesn't mean I want to be. Just because you can't be wealthy, doesn't mean I'm not trying to become so.

The begger on the train with Dagney put socialism perfectly into words. There will always be someone worse off than you with their hand out to rob you because you have more than them, but they need to realizes there is someone else below them doing the same thing. And when everyone is destitute, they will still be trying to rob someone to make themselves better off. Communism is just socialism where everyone supposedly owns everything, including the spoils of everyone's labor.

Ah! That is what I just posted to jimslag (above). I think that what has happened is that the 'mean' has shifted. I expect that the extremes have remained about the same - and one of those extremes is probably where you are.

      Thank you.

I am selfish, and I'm not ashamed of it. However,
the thing is, I recognize the right of other people to
be equally selfish. My brother tried to tell me that
health care was a right, and I said, "No, it's not!
Nothing is a right except the right to be left alone."

They're selfish brats. Somewhere they got the notion that it's OK to be selfish. After all, selfishness is a virtue, right? What they don't understand is that theirs is not the virtuous kind.

In all fairness, I have met many intelligent young people in my work who are idealistic and respectful of others' rights; who are eager to learn and do productive work and not sell their soul for an unfair advantage. I am optimistic for the future.

You can WANT to be anything, but whether you actually get there depends on ability, determination, work ethic, and to some extent (limited) being in the right place at the right time and which people you have gotten to collaborate with.

OMG to use verbage of a group I don't belong to. This tells it like it is. We, as a generations have raised a bunch of wimps, there are no Indiana Jones or League of Gentlemen type individuals among this generation. They have been pampered and primped and now they are demanding we give what we promised them when they were little ones coming into this world. We caused it and now we are suffering it. I have no children, so I saw it in others, such as friends and family. Just remember we brought this upon ourselves.

I think that the exceptional people are still present. What has happened is that the mean has shifted and the majority of the people are now different.

I believe you are right about exceptional people being present, however, it's my belief they have Galted because they recognize the toxicity of politics and policies being unfriendly to entreprenurial (sp?) endeavors. I have met some of them over the past 25 years and was blown away by what they said the used to do versus what they were doing at the time I knew them. The look of resignation and disappointment on their faces is something I'll never forget.

Granted the mean has shifted just like it did from The Greatest Generation to my generation. Yes, I am a Boomer, even if I am at the tail end of the era. My mom was born at the end of the Great Depression and I was born at the end of the 50's. Growing up I had things that were never dreamed of when my parents were children. I did not grow up with a silver anything but we always had food on the table, my parents were not so lucky. There was a big status change there and we are hitting it again, I was just saying we caused it and now it is coming back to bite us.

I agree it should apply to anyone with an entitlement attitude rather than a generation. People used to say this about Gen X too.
On #2, while you can't be anything you want to be, you're free to be something no one has ever dreamed of. Create things that simply weren't before you. You're bound to fall on your face many times, but keep getting up. Maybe that kid with poor motor skills will do research into the causes of heart disease and be a part of treating it without ever cutting. Ask out the quarterback. Try something that everyone thinks is impossible. Kick our butts, Millennials.

There is always something to discover about yourself.
Here I am about retirement age and those who know my skill set keep challenging me to go outside the boundaries to accomplish more all of the time.
      Life, it seems, is ever-increasing.
