I have stood on corners, I have peacefully marched (in DC and at home), I have written, called, emailed, faxed, campaigned, voted (but only one vote per name/issue, drat!), elucidated, educated, opined, debated, thrown money at, and generally rallied til I'm not only exhausted but sick to death of every rat bastard...to no avail. I am woefully jaded now and do not really believe there is any going back to the Constitution on a national level...but, if there is to be any halt, control or a stopping right now, at this line in the sand, is this a concrete way to do that? Indict their butts.

I am there with you. It is like having battle fatigue. Some days you know all is lost, other days, you get up and resume the fight. I never thought my country would collapse in my time.
Our only hope for the future, even with indictments, would be a reeducation of the populace. They liberals have so corrupted the school system an diminished education, that we have generations unable to reason or think for themselves. Our Republic can only survive with the kind of citizens we have in short supply at this moment. Ayn Rand said to avoid them, but when they become the majority, what do you do?

I don't know Stormi, that is why I continue to search and hope. There is no where to run, no way to effectively hide. Rand had all the right ideas, but electronics have changed the times so far as creating a real Gulch. If only we could band together and secede. Ha!

Banding together and seceding - that's one of my objectives in being in this forum! There are a lot of details to work out.

My part of Florida has all that. And low taxes, too. It is a pretty good place to shrug.

What about the inheritance or estate tax?

At least there are neither of those at the state level in Florida, but of course, there are inheritance / estate taxes at the federal level. My parents have a really good tax attorney who has sheltered us as much as possible from the estate tax by them giving the max to their kids and grandkids to avoid such money going to the looters. It is not optimal, but it is the best you can do in the US. I'm considering leaving, but east central Florida is pretty nice.

When you say secede does it have to be a direct and open action? Can you secede in practice? Can you carve out a chunk of territory and influence the local politics with a well thought out strategy? Hell the gangsters do it... There are all sorts of subcultures that are like little independent countries in the US. Some subcultures have been very successful. Maybe the gulch can start as a neighborhood and expand its influence?

With nearly half the people in the country on the public dole, I think it's too late to save what the US used to be. I think, though, that we can still reclaim some of our freedoms and build a new country on that.

I commend you on your efforts. We are certainly led to believe that one man can make a difference.
I am an optimist and there has to be a way to shake the foundations of this decaying government.

Every new and free society has a shelf life. It's great at first, but it starts an inevitable decline to the crash. The key to making society great isn't about beating the liberals and nanny-staters that always ruin it. The key is about finding new land and starting over.

The problem these days is that there is NO new land, at least, not on this planet. Galt's Gulch worked because they could completely disengage from society and never be found. In a time of satellites, the Gulch would never work. Do you honestly think the government would allow the best people to disconnect from society?

You can hide in many different ways. You don't have to disengage , you can be invisible... Right in the open. Time to evolve the Galts Gulch idea. Galts gulch can start as a development... A gated community, it can be an apartment building, a community in a small towns, especially one of these dying miserable town. It can start anywhere and morph into anything else given the resources and ideas to do it with.

have you read the DIM Hypothesis? if not you should. Dr. Peikoff explains quite clearly why and how the country is going down hill. the only aspect of the book I disagree with is his time frame; he believed at the time of publication about 40 years if nothing were to change. I do not think that long and when I told him he responded that he didn't think thing would get worse so fast. as was said many years ago "a government of the people, by the people and for the people shall not perish from this earth". well is has!!!!

It's an interesting proposal. I'd like to believe that it is legit, but afraid that it is merely some charlatans taking advantage of frustrated patriots.

In Skinners "walden two" the founding WT community spawns off other self sufficient communities that work together to take over local governments expanding their influence with the creation of each new WT community.
The local governments are tweaked to be WT community friendly and align with the communities philosophical beliefs.
