Other than the hope that schools will give them out for free (WTF do they think schools are actually for?) it's mostly about taxes.
It's hard to have an Objectivist discussion on variations in tax policy since we are generally in the "tax bad, freedom pretty" mode. Our answer is generally "no taxes".
If you do have a sales tax, the concept of having the 'basics' non taxed has some disturbing aspects but has a lot of support. If you are following this logic, I would say they should probably be included.
