The last nail in Michigan’s coffin???

The labor unions have managed to get an initiative on the ballot that would amend the Michigan constitution that would likely destroy any chance at a competitive comeback for the state. The proposition would amend the constitution in favor of the unions codifying in law their right to collective bargaining, forcing all to pay dues and imperiling any chance of becoming a right to The last nail in Michigan’s coffin???
work state. Michigan is the only state in the union that lost population according to the last census. Wonder why people and businesses are making a mass exodus… Will the last person in Michigan kindly shut off the lights on your way out…

The optimistic side: In the past Michigan voters have resisted any attempts to amend their Constitution…

I go "home" to Michigan once a year and driving from the airport, through Detroit is like driving through HELL. Deserted, beat up, empty, humungous industrial buildings, one after another, after another. It's hideous. It sounds like they want the entire State to look like Detroit... and Starnesville. And by the endless "For Sale" signs that are in front of houses they are well on their way.

        Hello LetsShrug,
Yes, every time I return from vacation I am struck by the devastation that is the first thing most people see when coming into the state via the main thoroughfare of I-75 north into the Southeast Metro Detroit area. What a pathetic first impression it must make for those first coming to Michigan. The freeways are littered with debris and the sites along the way are unending dilapidation. It is a sad representation for what is otherwise a beautiful state. I live out far enough to experience the beauty that is 99% of Michigan, beyond the urban centers yet close enough to do business in the metro area when I must.
        Regards,
        O.A.

    Update:
After this scare forced on the ballot by big unions, the legislature took up a bill to make Michigan a Right to Work State, the legislature passed it and the Governor signed it!
Perhaps there is hope for Michigan yet.
    Regards,

We can hope it will fail, these days I'm not so sure, too many takers, too few workers.

      Hello rambo49264,
I have been constantly disappointed by my fellow Michigan voters. It is the rare occasion that something good happens here in the polls. For too long the large voting blocks in the inner cities have been monolithic in their support for big government…

Perhaps Algore will buy Detroit and sell it to some Middle Eastern kingdom. Ironic that the lefties gave this guy a Nobel prize AND an Oscar, and he turns into one of the most cut-throat capitalists on the planet.
