I know this has been discussed ad nauseum but this is very plausible. I add an additional horrific scenario; the passengers have been kept alive and will be unwilling passengers on the final flight to make the decision to shoot the damn thing down that much harder.

I think Malaysian Airlines should offer a years free first class travel to whoever comes up with the correct answer. Maybe they can trick one of the hijackers into revealing himself:-)

One angle that I have not seen much. If the author is correct and the plane resurfaces as a flying bomb, then the whole mission looks like it had some sort of government backing. Even if the author is not correct, if wreckage is not found then that plane landed somewhere, and that would almost certainly require government knowledge and some level of assistance. The question should be asked: which governments could carry something like this off, and why would they do so? I don't have the answer, but I've seen very little speculation about possible governmental involvement.

I think everyone is really hoping these guys went into the ocean. But I still think this is a jihadist thing because why else kill 237-238 other people at the same time if it isn't? And two of those were babies. There is a special place of torment for such of those who would kill children in cold blood.

This is an amazing mystery. I wonder how much more is known. I have heard that some additional intel may be known but countries may be reluctant to share because it was obtained by the military. The stress on these families is unimaginable.

I am fascinated as well. 2 things.
      1. If this is part of a terrorist plot what is reasonable across borders to protect world citizens? Libertarians are very protect your own borders conscious, but what is the US obligation considering we do not know a "target"?
      2. Since we passed restrictions after 9/11 including rules on how cockpit doors could be opened (now only from the inside) the sophistication of terrorists has possibly stepped up? Did we unwittingly help out the terrorists in this case if one or both of the pilots hijacked the plane? This is always the problem when we make a bunch of rash changes following disasters.

If our NSA or defense department knows something but feels they can't reach our borders without detection I think that info might be withheld until the actual target is known. You are right about the changes. We are too reactionary.
