Ideally, the actor playing John Galt in Atlas Shrugged Part 3 will appear to have jumped right off of the pages of Atlas Shrugged. However, in our quest to find the perfect John Galt, some tough choices may have to be made. That's where you come in.

If you had to choose, which would you consider the number one priority in casting John Galt?

A. As long as the actor looks and acts like John Galt, I don't care what his personal beliefs are.
B. The actor needs to possess a deep understanding of, and passion for, Ayn Rand's ideas first and foremost.

Kevin Spacey (to give the right intensity) ... Clint Eastwood (to give the right attitude). Robert Duval, Kevin Costner, and Gary Sinese are also excellent choices.

You need an actor who can act the part - convincingly. While the ideal would be an inspiring actor with Objectivist sympathies, the job is about acting and not personal philosophy.

Not that I believe the name of the actor is important, I will throw in my suggestions:
    1. Edward Norton
    2. Ralph Feinnes
    3. Eric Bana

If he can't pull off the part of John Galt, it matters not what he believes. Denzel Washington is my first choice. Tom Selick (a libertarian) would be my second.

Since acting is an art, not a philosophy, John Galt should be a good actor. If the movie is well planned, and the actor skilled, the actor will become a libertarian. The actor should look very average, so that he can disappear into the crowd. The actor should display humility, humor, and hope when playing his role.

John Galt in the book is really a personality-less pretty boring person. The important characters are Dagny, Hank Rearden, and the others- those are the ones that need to be selected carefully. Go back to the original actors in Part I. Part II werent believable. It made the movie kind of boring
