Uncle Sam at your Nipple

CMS is the government entity overseeing Medicare and Medicaid. They produce "Core Measures" that physicians and hospitals must meet in order to get paid for services rendered. There is a new mandate that 80% of new mothers must exclusively breast feed before leaving the hospital. Exclusion criteria include Mother or Baby in critical condition, Mother on illicit drugs, or infection. CMS has specifically stated that Mother deciding not to breast feed is NOT a legitimate exclusion from that 80%. So, if doctors and hospitals want to get paid for treating Medicaid/Medicare patients, they must coerce women into breast feeding against their will. I am not making this up. Check it for yourselves. My ethic prevents me from allowing a woman to make her own decision, but if she does then I work for free. Where is the honor in this system?

- 1Posted by jyokela 12 years, 2 months ago"living proof" is a new book that portrays, what I think to be, a logical poression of the anti-abortion. The government would have to regulat the woman's life from conception till birth and even after. We are not far off from that since we let the government into the field of medical choices.Mark as read | Best of... | Permalink|
