We're looking for the clearest, most concise, answers to help promote the message of Atlas and the film. So Gulch... who exactly is John Galt? Does he really exist?
Could he ever exist?
If he doesn't exist, why is he being hunted by the government of the United States?
Does he hold the key to a source of unlimited power that would change the country and the world?
If he does, why has he refused to give this power to the world?
Who is John Galt?
He is the representation of Free Will. Be and do what you wish, so long as you harm no other without consent.
convincing industrialists & entrepreneurs to resign to an isolated retreat to bring down a bloated, Marxist style government dependent on such individuals for the generation of necessary funds & products.
(Reporter) "Mrs. Taggart, who is John Galt?"
(Dagny, after a short pause) "We are!"
And yes, that's it. The most brilliant thing about it is that Dagny gives the right answer in an act of rebellion against moochers, looters and nay-sayers, without even knowing or assuming that it is indeed the right answer to that question.
And if you can give that answer without hesitation, truly from your heart, you understand what this is all about: We are. Not they.

He is taking away the 1% the collective hates.
He is speeding up the destruction government started.
Tomorrow the individual will rebuild.
John Galt is the embodiment of the indomitable Human Spirit, despite the wide belief in the "collective over the individual", of the Man who can save us from the suicidal demands of a "Society" that makes demands that will benefit everyone in Society......... except the authors of Man's true greatness, the Producers.
