If you know what it means to say, "I AM", then you know the answer to the question,
"Who is John Galt".
The answer to your question, "Who is John Galt?", was written many decades ago.
Anthem by Ayn Rand
(open quote)
Chapter Eleven
I am. I think. I will.
My hands . . . My spirit . . . My sky . . . My forest . . . This earth of mine . . . .
What must I say besides? These are the words. This is the answer.
(close quote)
The essential truth that humans are individuals. That they have value. That the definition of good is self-ownership
and by extension self determination.
We hold these truths to be self-evident. ... but,
In another fictional universe many ask "Who is THE DOCTOR?",
while the more important question may be, "Who aspires to be THE MASTER?".
The "what", the "how", the "why" are also critical questions.
"Every slave knows that a free man owns himself."
Is he a man ... or an idea
and a choice:
A Choice between a rational body and spirit or the mystic fog of intuition and impulse. Between a pure full guiltless joy of unbridled freedom or the immolation of the productive by the looters in the name of the public good.
Between freedom or slavery.
Life or Death!
One must choose!
John Galt is the Identity of that choice
I swear by my life and my love of it that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine.

I see John Galt as a kind of metaphor for man's search for true freedom. Freedom of thought, knowledge, actions and the natural pursuit of mankind to solve the problems that he and his fellow man deal with.
John Galt means FREEDOM to take your talents and use them to help your fellow man unincumbered.
Giving them the maximum capability of living life on their own terms while elevating the purpose of their fellow mans ideals to an better level.
