New York Attorney General Investigating ExxonMobil for Alleged Climate Cover-Up

The Los Angeles Times and InsideClimate News recently reported that Exxon scientists knew as early as 1977 that the use of fossil fuel contributes to global warming, but has since perpetuated climate change skepticism. The company has denied doing so.
According to Forbes, ExxonMobil is the seventh-largest publicly traded company in the world.
The Department of Justice has been under pressure to investigate the company over these claims, with Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders and Martin O'Malley all supporting calls for an investigation.
"'Exxon Knew' just joined the category of truly serious scandals," Bill McKibben, an environmental activist and founder of http://350.org, said in a statement. "Just as New York’s Teddy Roosevelt took on the Standard Oil Trust a century ago, New York’s attorney general has shown great courage in holding to account arguably the richest and most powerful company on Earth. We hope that other state attorney generals and the federal Department of Justice, and the Securities Exchange Commission will show similar fortitude."
There are many on line reports of this story. I chose the Huffington Post because of their unwavering objectivity.
Perhaps its time for John Galt to stop the pipeline of the world.

But I do recall AL Gore claiming that some heavy snows were the result of global warming.
Yeah, right, Mr. Ozonehead.
If I were ExxonMobil, I'd proclaim that climate has always been changing on this planet since it first formed an atmosphere.
What Exxon needs to do is embrace this opportunity to challenge the very concept of global warming: ie "We cannot have 'known about Global Warming in 1977 because Global Warming does not exist." Exxon should go for a high-publicity trial that pushes Climategate evidence that the Global Warmers themselves knew that Warming was a farce.

P.S. I loved the little comment about the "unwavering objectivity" of the Huffington Post...I almost spit out my coffee!
what a horrible joke we are living in at this time.
"Dr. Mann! I call your attention to this quote: 'I've just completed Mike's Nature trick of adding in the real temps to the data series...from 1981 onwards, and to 1961 for Keith's to hide the decline.' Was he talking about you?"
I do not expect any move by ExxonMobil to defend science against Gaia and Marx followers and looters as jlc would like. Paying some negotiated fines is cheaper.
Your political situation is back in the news. The Pumas played well against those wallaby wannabees.
