Fivedollar is hardly a fan of the psychoanalyst from Vienna, however, his concept of defense mechanisms is quite handy. This concept refers to making a behavior seem like its opposite. Mr. Carney's assertion of "having a good week" left fivedollar scratching his head, until remembering this concept.

The final step is when they start shouting you down before you can even finish a sentence. Actually, there's one more step, but I've never seen a press secretary stay on the job to this point.
