    Good interview. I think he will be fine. It sounds like his political awakening is just beginning. Funny...Microphobia... at least it wasn't a Telefunken U47... nod to Zappa... :)

    i love him. i have seen him in quite a few TV shows and he is terrific - and so handsome. he is laid back, but i don't think Galt is that up front either - he's quietly brilliant and likes to be behind the scenes, quietly making things happen. engineers are never out there or extroverted so he will be great

    A lot of this sort of speculation goes on every time a major movie picks a major character. Michael Keaton Batman? Toby McGuire Spiderman? The list of apparent miscasting goes on and on. It all depends on the skill of the actor. We will have to wait and see. ;

    He's different from how I'd pictured Galt too - for me it was always early-'80s Peart ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOqB4rmml... ) - but Polaha is a plausible match to the Paul Johansson rendition from beneath the hat in Atlas 1. I think he'll do fine, but the fact that the entire cast is new - not to mention the blacklisting of the entire project by the monolith media - does not bode well for its success.

    On the other hand, the very fact that it's finally been made will perhaps pave the way for a future production that's more A-list blockbuster material, as the original Lion's Gate production promised to be before the deal fell apart. That's assuming, of course, that we're not all in concentration camps in a year or two.

    Anyone else notice that the premium cable channels have also blacklisted it? They're running "Passion of Ayn Rand," "Wall Street," and every other anti-objectivist flick they can get their mitts on, but Atlas 1 or 2 is nowhere to be found. Part 1 is on Netflix though.

    I'm hoping that Mr. Aglialoro has some definite plans to shop this around to cable channels not hamstrung by vestigial leftwing conformity. BBC America, maybe IFC, Hallmark, Reelz, even Lifetime or WE. If this trilogy is going to be seen, it's going to take some guerrilla marketing to get past the blacklisting.

    Hmmmm...
    very laid back interview. I truly hope he can bring his acting skills to the table. I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt to the producers in choosing him for the most important role.

    What's with that microphone? It looks like some kind of medical probe. Did she stop by Radioshack and get this out of the $1.29 clearance bin? As to what I learned from the interview. Not much. Other than the month the film is opening.

      They called it a snowball mic, also by manufacturer's name of Blue (I think).

        It's a Blue Snowball, about $60 on Amazon, which feeds into a computer USB port. Blue mics are of Russian heritage and are famous for high quality reproduction of the human voice. Glenn Beck had a Blue "Baby Bottle" mic on his Fox News set for his time there. The "snowball" is called the "first serious USB mic" and is reputed to be flat from 40Hz to 18 kHz, with a 3 dB presence peak at 3kHz. Kris sounded quite good for Galt's voice to this old sound and mechanical engineer who's read AS 3 times and messed with sound for 50 years. And, yes, we tend to be introverted, stardustsara, while we invent the future!

        Wouldn't beachball be more appropriate. It looks like something an Olympic 8 foot tall volleyball player would spike over a net. What did you get out of this interview?

          I had the good fortune to watch 4 days of shooting on the live feed and the interview isn't what he looked like while filming. Keep in mind that this interview took place after the lovemaking scene with Dagny and the torture scene. I think we'll like the end product.

          Kris filled me in on his walk to understand the background of the character and movie.

    What a lightweight. Seriously, producers? This guy is the best person to audition for the John Galt part? Are you conceding part 3? Has the guy even read the book?
    My heart breaks for the missed opportunity of this series. The most important book and message of our time, and these movies have failed to convey any of it on so many counts. And now, the insult to every Atlas fan, this guy? If he was the best, I'd have hated to see who didn't make the cut.

      I did hear [from whom? hmmm] that he had been favorably influenced by Fountainhead and listened to all --- ALL ---- of the Atlas audiobook.

      I had not spoken with him when we were there, but he NAILED the 20th Century motors scene.

        That memory is such a treasure. I haven't been there in person but the little treats in live streaming will stay with me. I know this will be a great movie.

      When it was first announced that Daniel Craig would be the newest James Bond, I was rather upset - I thought he looked nothing like the suave, debonaire spy that Sean Connery had generated in my mind. Turned out I was wrong - his physicality and brutality have worked well in the role.
      On that basis, I'm willing to give Kris a chance. I always pictured Galt as good-looking and confident, so Kris' soft-spoken 'Redford' approach may work well as long as he doesn't play him cavalierly like a Jay Gatsby character. Galt meant every word he said with every fiber of his being.

        I was bothered by the Craig choice for Bond as well, and he turned out to be stunning. I once read a description of Bond as a man who had to be willing, without a second thought, to cut a [fill in your favorite small living being] in half with a dull knife. Connery had it, and so does Craig.

        No matter how much we want them to be, actors are not always the characters they "play". When I saw him as Galt, I believed him.

    Disappointed in the video; could only see
    Polaha's right thigh; at times his hands; and
    partial views of his face, until the end when he
    stood up. Then I could see his face. Quite
    good=looking!

    Not sure if it's just my internet connection, but the video really sucks. Audio comes through fine, just no video - or when it did, it stopped.

    It would be a good idea to keep this person away from ALL press. He reminds me TOO much of GARY from Team America. He is a little too "sure" of himself and, in my opinion, kind of comes off as a pompous jackass. I am hoping this guy won't suck at this role.
