Sometimes inescapable... Along those lines...I know this guy. He fronted a local band for years and he does an awesome job singing modern and classic rock, but he didn't make the cut here... Check out the reactions. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBKuWF-JQ...
That would be me. I hope you like the review. I enjoyed the book and the twists and turns were fun and imaginative. I can't say I've ever read erotica before but you did a great job.
It was an eloquent and effective comment, Bassplayer, and I deeply appreciate your taking the time to post it. Don't laugh, but I don't see "O Human Child" as erotica, really, though two chapters qualify as erotica and one as kinky indeed. My book of erotica is the historical thriller, "The Price of Hannah Blake." But if you haven't read erotica, this might be a body blow. Still, my favorite character, Hannah Blake, is a real discovery, IMHO. Not really humble, I guess. Thanks again, so much, Rocky MP.
I think you must start another thread devoted to bass. I think that this site the depth of your bass cannot sustain. One comments below was laid out one word per line as the indenting of sub-posts went crazy. Jeez, 50 comments!
Bass players are individualists and this is a natural place for us to be. While the guitar players all want to be the stars the bass player holds the whole thing together. We are a talented bunch.
Here is one of my favorite songs to play. There are quite few changes, but I worked them out. I play a combo arrangement. They did so much overdubbing... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1d4TLWm...
Not me. I am no front man, more of a rythym player, but, I can play some sweet leads. I know who provides the foundation... This band would not be the same without a strong bass player ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rn_YodiJO......
I concur, 100%. But, I will never be able to play YYZ the way Geddy does. :( However, I love Eric Claptons own remake of After Midnight. Great bassline, moderately challenging and fun to play. =)
I keep saying I'm not Duck Dunn. My brother (6 & 12 string guitar & Dobro) and I are the only ones in the band that can read music. The keyboard guy plays by ear, so sometimes what he hears is more than one instrument and plays that not leaving much room for me. I've had to adapt and usually end up playing bits and pieces of the bass line. After Midnight is a great example of having to play it very simple. I works out. I get to rest after a really extended version of Baby Please Don't Go.
Sweet. Now everyone, don't make too much of this, but I don't sing. However after a few Coronas... I have been known to sing this one Karaoke style... Note; This is not to be taken too seriously! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6ODMKSWz...
the song is beautiful-but the guy in the song is a moocher. he begs without offering her anything but dirty clothes and clean hands! then to add insult to injury, he tells her that the one she loves is right in front of her. fail.
:) He does offer a big brass bed, to show her the colors in her mind, and to have her cake and eat it too, what he offers after that I'm not sure of... :) What exactly is she offering? Er... um... maybe we shouldn't talk about that ... :)
she clearly has more to offer...once she knew his clothes were dirty-I sure as heck wouldn't be layin down on that bed at least until some laundry was done! I concede it is possible B. Dylan could have shown her the colors of her mind at least in that moment in time, if he was on his game. He takes the cake!
Cool! Van Morrison... I have never heard that version. I have had the pleasure of seeing/ hearing Ted do his version live at least five times. he can really stretch it out... his is a long version...
this post was seriously high-jacked! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iuLBhxZUk... on the night of my 20th anniversary on a cat in the BVI saw both the southern cross and the north star.unforgettable trip!
Classic. Yes we have demolished this thread. Sorry, WDonway. But hey, the thanks can only go so far. I hope the songs carry you further. Have we played this one? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hX8nAZftZ...
Here's a great version of Into the Mystic. It's Zack Brown band doing Free and Into the Mystic. I saw if first on Crossroads with Jimmy Buffet but the youtube of it sucks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cID3CYPd...
Yeah... too bad I think the sound was over-driving the microphone. Otherwise very good. This was the next song in the auto line up. I miss Roy Orbison... the most beautiful male voice in Rock & Roll.. Here he is with K.D. Lang https://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&f...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hoqpPmD... I saw this like 1990? an MTV Goin' Home series-I loved it-if you can see it, it's worth it of course, Van is quite spiritual, but even the Objectivist in me has a soft spot for his love of his God
Regards,
O.A.
