OK. Here is a chart, that separates out How we integrate our own philosophy of life. Like science there is a method (think genus/species) to order how we understand the world and how we can agree on definitions-which are rooted in reality and not just our perceptions of reality. Just look at the Objectivist layout of philosophy. Understand, before we can know how we know, we must first know what is the nature of reality. It affects Man too-not just rocks and constellations and plants. :)

play around with it. challenge the structure of philosophy. every person makes mistakes in their thinking. You and I might agree (I hope) that a rock is a rock. but why do we disagree on Politics then? (Os disagree all the time). There is most certainly a contradiction in thinking somewhere along the line. Tell us where you have a disagreement. we'll start there and work backwards. great show today. Zen and winter need to get up earlier for these :)

@technocracy I agree. Strong positions weakly held is my motto (or at least I try).

@xthinker88 I do believe my perception gives me truth, but I also know that my perception does not grant me all knowledge. So I am always willing to learn and adjust accordingly

we'll link a chart to an ununderstanding of how philosophy is developed. If she can see that there are axioms rooted in the metaphysical and then the next step is epistemological and after we understand how we know what we know, then we can discuss morality-then politics finally

But, on the other hand, if you believe that your perception does not give you true information then you have completely hobbled your ability to reason.

Perception is subject to change in light of new information
Reality is not..it remains the same

    Example
    Diamond - jewel to you
    Carbon in tetrhedral crystal matrix
    Clear hard rock

All three describe the same object which is in fact A ROCK

Cannot really have a philosophical conversation with somebody not able to separate different concepts and discuss them separately.

It doesn't influence the environment, only the perciever
The rock remains a rock the uses we assign to it is irrelevant

yes, it influences, in psychological ways, but it has physical reality separate from any perception
