Another of my blog posts, this one concerning America's Soul. Hint: America's Soul is Manufacturing.

It originally started as a reply here, but I decided to publish it myself.

In another note, I like the ship on the banner (It's the Samuel B Roberts of Leyte Gulf fame), it's supposed to represent Ragnar's ship. But it's a bit plain, and I fear it's not clear what it is. Any suggestions of ways I can upgrade it?

I hope you turn out to be wrong about the US being in great economic peril. I think US is doing great, economically, but is in some danger of erosion of liberties.

I'd love to be wrong. But the REAL unemployment numbers are higher than the worst times of the Great Depression. Workforce participation is at an 40 year low. Earnings are down. Savings are down. And on top of that Inflation is up severely. Congress is getting richer, and the poor are getting poorer.

It is no coincidence that all of this is happening at a time when the number of people working in ALL of manufacturing is exceeded by the number of people working in Government alone. How tenable do you think it is that the number of people that actually make a product in this country are far, far, far, far, FAR outnumbered by the takers?

Don't get me wrong, the country's demise won't be sudden. It'll be a long, drawn out process. Things like extreme governmental debt will take hold. Like the $200,000,000,000,000 in unfunded Government Liabilities. And the Federal Reserve will just be printing money. To the tune of $1,000,000,000,000 per year. And the number of people who pay taxes will be less than the number of people who don't. Like the 48% it's at currently.

If any of those things were happening, I'd be worried. But things are fine, right?

There is a company that makes "custom" floor mats for all makes and models of cars and trucks. Unfortunately I can’t remember its name. They advertise that they a made in the USA with American materials by American workers. They also mention when the owner was starting the company he was told he couldn't built factories here. People didn't manufacture here anymore, he couldn't get good workmen, and he could get good materials. The ad ends with him saying he just built his 2nd factory and is looking a building a third. All made in America.
We need more people like that.
