I worked with a geologist from the Isle of Man. He told me they have the oldest standing government in the world. Dates back to the 12th century or so.

An interesting thought. Is there offshore oil we can use for energy? Or a way to build a nuclear reactor? Not much sun there for solar and without Galt's engine, we're going to need power...

Looks like a beautiful place to live. I am not sure how long it would last in a post fiat currency apocalyptic world, though. Looks like its dependent on the outside world for its existence though.

We have friends who live there mostly in the summer. They say the tax situation is much better then in England.

We visited once. We are reluctant to spend double our current housing costs to move there and then there is the fact that you have to take a ferry or fly in a small plane to leave.

Wow, I took an immediate liking to that place.
I do have some Irish in me from my mother's side.
I wouldn't mind getting out of Alabama this time of year.

To cold and blustery. It reminds me of Iceland but with trees. I was stationed in Iceland for 2 years and it is not that far away to be any different in weather.
