What really got my blood pressure up is the foolish deal the Republicans signed, allowing a minority to rubber-stamp basically what is an Emperor's decree. If the Republicans can't oppose this, what are they there for? They should have stiffened their spines and forced a Constitutional showdown, requiring a 2/3 majority of the Senate to approve it. This is a deal with a foreign government, so it is a treaty and needs to be approved as such. Common sense reading of the Constitution would lead reasonable people to conclude that.

OK...so by calling it an agreement and not a treaty, Obama neatly stepped around Advise and Consent. The Senate votes to not implement, Obama vetoes it and the Senate doesn't have to votes to override. Idiotic on the face of it, but there it is nonetheless. my take on the world's finances is when we get in the shape we are, the world generally goes to war. They beat each other back to poverty, then forgive the debt and start over. We could use that, but when it could be nuclear, that's different. Einstein is attributed of saying he didn't know how they would fight WWIII, but WWIV would be fought with sticks and stones.

They have 34 votes. But according to the Constitution it takes 67 votes to ratify a treaty, not to block one. Some Senator(s) should sue to make the President follow the rules.
