The battle still goes on in the streets today with WTO protests, and for that matter the Occupy movement. But the "Agorists" eschew such conflicts and look to market solutions.

That said, ideas do matter. While religionists kill each other, philosophers, scientists, and merchants tend not to. No matter the acrimony between Wittgenstein and Popper, their students do not bomb each other's beer gardens.
