I wonder if her choice would have been the same if she knew it would happen while she was pregnant. The way it stands we don't know that answer so essentially her husband decided what to do with her body.
The ending is sad, however the ending is what she had said she wanted many times in discussions with her husband and family. She lived her life and her death her way, the way she wanted. Aloha to a brave woman.
