This is a ridiculous waste of tax payer money! The feds involved? Seriously? How the hell does a logical person justify this over reaction? It makes no sense at all.
I initially wondered the same thing. But movie piracy is big business and companies invested in the industry are cracking down. ICE is the agency which oversees piracy issues. Major cities are where most of the illegal recording happens. This is where you catch them.
I agree that piracy is wrong, and that it should be pursued as it is the intellectual property of the creators, but calling out the feds to detain the man seems a bit on the extreme side.
I 'll bet they have dedicated agents to just handle this issue and the theater companies have a cooperative agreement. Frankly it's more effective than starting with local police. But why was there an immigration spoksperson? What do you think of google glass?
I like what I see of google Glass thus far. It’s a neat gadget, but not one that I will most likely get. I have no need to walk around looking like a cyborg. LOL. Still, it will be interesting to see just what it can do over time. The communications possibility alone makes it interesting.
Im still on the fence regarding its disruptiveness. It's pretty "me too " as products go. But I am worried about privacy issues. I know it's not alot different from your phone in many ways so why does it bug me. It just does. The last thing we need is a bunch of govt agents wearing the things tallying up your felonies and violations while they 're staring at you.
I don't have a problem with knowledge about "felonies and violations", those are public knowledge and can help law enforcement - at least the safety of law enforcement. What I'm concerned about is the other data that they could tap into without a warrant - phone records, mail records (do you know that every piece of mail that is autosorted is photographed?), cable channels viewed, library books checked out, face recognition from gun shows, etc. These are private records - or at least should be considered as such - but the ease with which they can be obtained is frightening.
no I did not know that! I wasn't referring to public record, I was thinking more take your picture and some program analyzes what violations you may be charged with or worse. The google neighbor cops. Minority report
How about picking up a glass you used to drink from, or a cigarette you just put out, or similar and running a DNA test to predict your chemical imbalances and infer your susceptibility to commit crimes.
Presumption of innocence, remember that?
They want to keep their intellectual property... fine. I want to keep my money, then. It's win-win.

I am sure there will be government officials to assure us that if we have done nothing wrong we have nothing to hide. LOL
