Would Midas Mulligan welcome a Bunny Ranch in the Gulch?
Dennis Hof owns business licenses for the majority of brothels in Nevada. He discusses his business model in the above interview with Reason. And here is his presentation to Oxford University. (Should be a TEDx talk IMO(: ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAW3KSXv8...
“Love is blind, they say; sex is impervious to reason and mocks the power of all philosophers. But, in fact, a man’s sexual choice is the result and the sum of his fundamental convictions. Tell me what a man finds sexually attractive and I will tell you his entire philosophy on life. Show me the woman he sleeps with and I will tell you his valuation of himself. No matter what corruption he’s taught about the virtue of selflessness, sex is the most profoundly selfish of all acts, an act which he cannot perform for any motive but his own enjoyment–just try to think of performing it in a spirit of selfless charity!–an act which is not possible in self-abasement, only in self-exaltation, only in confidence of being desired and being worthy of desire.” Atlas Shrugged
1) Would MM view sex as immoral? No.
2) Would MM view sex between two consenting adults as immoral? No.
3) Since an Objectivist is also atheist, there would be no religious overtones about coveting and such.
4) Would MM view the exchange of physical pleasure for some monetary remuneration as a fair deal? Yes, so long as both parties entered into the act knowingly and willingly.
Given these statements, I would think that MM would say that morality regarding sex comes from those who participate. If a couple espouses to one another a desire to maintain monogamy with one another, then the only moral behavior is to stay faithful, which would eliminate a certain portion of the overall populace. For others, either not attached or in an "open" relationship, it would seem to be a moral activity, thus, yes, MM would allow a brothel in the Gulch.

Sex is an expression of values just as man cannot be cut off from his ideas when he takes a physical action. Sex should be an expression of self -esteem. Do you see Francisco or Hank paying for sex? I can see some expression of art - erotica in a play or movie or show.
btw - I hope Rebecca is back - anyone seen the cast list?
It's called masturbation.
Rand would disagree, but I don't know that I do. If I were Dagny, I think I'd not have sex unless I desired someone that I knew. maybe this a man/woman kind of thing or not. I can't imagine having sex with someone I had no interest in knowing. Most men I know would disagree with me on this point. But in my experience, not most women.
There are many people who spend most of their time trying to destroy others maliciously. It gives them power and makes them feel smart if they can psychologically or physically control another:The professor who purposely obfuscates the truth and grades accordingly, the politician who votes for regulations he knows will harm those regulated, the President sworn to uphold the Constitution who in fact tries to tear it down.
Nevertheless, as far as the sex act was concerned, Lillian was trading Hank value for value.
