I was stopped just across the Cape Fear re-entering the ICW and checked for SOLAS, licensing and evidence of a recent safety class. My answer ? one a week every week at sea and poroduced my Coast Guard papers. Have a nice day Sir. ALL of them had machine gun mounts. Most has mounted machine guns.
Coast Guard, maybe, fine.
The issue is transnational drug cartels who could almost outmatch our military in the region as far as firepower. They don't stop to ask hey are you a forest ranger before they shoot. Texas parks are a major entryoint for all types of serious and very deadly criminals. This is what really needs to be addressed.
Back to Texas and Mexico. Murder rate in Houston 12 per 100,000. Texas 6 per 100,000. National Average about 3 per 100,000.
Number of gringos living in Mexico six to 12 months of the year and almost none with in fifty miles of the border about one million. 200,000 in the Guadalajara area alone. Number of deaths per one hundred thousand less than three.
North of the border I carry. South of the border there is no need as long as you use common sense and stay out of their version of Chicago or LA and the fifty mile border zone!!!
The cartel wars have dropped since their high point some years ago and since the Attorney General quit running guns. I threw that last one in. Down here the cartels don't need to be heavily armed Mexican citizens have no weapons. They also have no money to afford drugs. For that the dealers wait in places like Cabo San Lucas where the ATMs spit out US twenties. Most of us skip places like Mazatlan and Acapulco although the law enforcement is old style Las Vegas provided I believe by the cartels and law enforcement who don't wish the flow of dollars interrupted.
Sources were the latest available information from the various US Agencies including State Department although I would fact check them with Cato Institute these days.
FAR more dangerous in the USA than the USM.
The cartels have nowhere near the fire power of the US Military. To the best of my knowledge they aren't being used in the border protection nor drug curtailment effort. One Bradley with a 25mm chain gun is a cartelistas wet dream. An attack helicopter comes to mind. Funny though. They aren't being used or used all that much for the moment in any wars for a change. Their brief is enemies foreign and domestic. Posse Comitatus Act allows the States to request military assistance and they have their own National Guard unit's. Maybe Obeyme is waiting to make a big splash in the legacy building phase???? Or maybe the fix is in fro the Glitterati supporters of the left? Lots of questions there. just plain reconnaisance patrolling the border for one thing leaving encounters to the Border patrol. ????
But I agree the Mosquitos are probably bigger in Alaska thats why the Moose are so big because natural selection did that so the Mosquitos would carry them off so easily. But I heard they do. But Chuck Norris can still kill them by just looking at them poor things just have a heart attack. Last time an Alaskan osquitto was killed like that I heard it took out the bridge to nowhere LOL!
Utube? Anybody can put anything on utube. Utube has me horrified..
No police force need machine guns, period. Maye, maybe, maybe SWAT teams need full auto, but I even doubt that have any value.
This militarization of police is consistent with the abuses people assert are racially motivated, but I strongly argue the abuses are just a leading indicator because of the high interaction with police in higher crime, poorer areas.
Still, I bet all the anglers have their permits showing when that boat shows up! Ha!
and strategy at least one step ahead of the evildoers
whom they face, on the job. . since I tend to over-
estimate evildoers, I would ask others to determine
this. . like our marketplace team, Wheatley. -- j
