Vallely said it’s time for millions of Americans to “stand up” to a federal government that is “conducting treason … violating the Constitution, violating our laws.” He’s calling for marches, a legislative vote of “no confidence” in President Obama and congressional leaders, even citizen arrests – drawing inspiration from the 33 million Egyptians who stood up to their government and removed Muslim Brotherhood officials from office.

Maj. Gen. Paul E. Vallely (ret.)

Vallely also said the radio interview in which he called for a new American uprising has struck a note with the millions of modern tea partiers who are looking for unifying leadership.

“It’s been all over Facebook, a number of websites, radio shows calling me for interviews,” Vallely said. “And the response I’ve received has been 99-percent positive.

“I think the biggest thing is that someone is finally standing up to lead,” he explained. “We need someone to lead; we need a new George Washington.

I have heard it said, and I agree, that there need to be arrests and convictions. When elected officials thwart the Constitution and violate laws they need to be taken out and actually punished.

For those who cannot make it all the way across country let's call for major gatherings at various cities. We need a national turnout for this. As for the "pen" all of the conservative radio and TV hosts will be behind this ... we won't have any other media and we don't need them! Unite against this administration, not just the executive head. They all abuse their powers, especially Holder...

Yes it is true that good leadership is needed, however, I question his honornesty. Why? Because he stated that the rebels were not involved in those gas attacks! Until that is clarified I will not follow him. Ret. RN USAF

We need someone to incite the nation! "Without the pen of Paine, the sword of Washington would have been wielded in vain." or as Thomas Edison wrote "Where Washington performed, Paine devised and wrote."

The only thing that turns me off is the prayer group part. I might go to find and represent the atheists, possibly find educated anarchists.

Y'know, I am pretty much an atheist myself. I recognize as the supreme creator and ruler, Mother Nature. I just cannot get my head around the concept of on all-powerful God that put it all together, watches over us all, answers prayers and dictates policies that require us to fight and kill others so that they will embrace our religious beliefs.

I do, however, recognize Jesus as a philosopher. One who has promulgated a set of values and "laws" that have been a, if not the the, major force in establishing the rules by which most of mankind lives today. I believe also that the Ten Commandments are inherent in every human as certain behavior traits are inherent in most animal species. As a crude example, the act of a dog lifting his hind leg when urinating. Not wanting to be killed, robbed, disrespected, etc. are as much Human Values as the are Holy Commandments. It doesn't matter if you believe they were God-given or just realized and written down by some observant scribe in pre-history.

Now then, let's all try to get everyone to recognize the fact that Christianity has been the motivating force that has allowed mankind to progress these last 2000+ years from partially civilized tribes living in a mostly-primitive manner to the highly technical, medically safe and proficient, civilized society that we have become today.

Stop railing about Christianity as a religion worshiping Jesus and start thinking of Christianity as a philosophy that has created an environment that has allowed us to progress to our present level of technical and governmental excellence. The philosophy of Jesus as passed down to us was conceived by careful examination of the several thousand years of Jewish experience from the Old Testament, the writings of all the ancient Greeks and a great deal of common sense.

If you, like me, cannot reconcile in your own head that Jesus is God, then just respect the man for his philosophy and where it has brought civilization. Without it I believe we would be far worse off.

Please check your premises. Christianity killed off the roman empire, killed off science and technology including burying important technological advances for centuries.(see when was cement invented). Christianity was key in forcing illiteracy among the populace all the way up to kings, it is responsible for killing off tens of thousands through the inquisition, tried to kill Galileo and other scientists and philosophers. It was only with the Renaissance and the rejection of Christian dogma, that Europe began to take off.
We were founded on natural rights which in many ways is incongruous with Christianity. Start here:the right to pursue your own happiness vs. duty to God. All men are born free vs. born in original sin. You own yourself vs vessel of Christ.
In no way am I trying to disrespect Christians, but I'm not going to stand aside and watch you rewrite history here brewby

Credit for the intellectual progress that has occurred in the last 2500 years should be placed squarely on the shoulders of the ancient Greek Mathematicians and Philosophers.

The philosophy of Jesus is what I am speaking of here, NOT the policies of the Holy Roman Catholic Church, of which I was once a member, by birth not be choice.

We are speaking of the care and respect not the power seeking heads of the church.

Of all the religions extant today Buddhism is probably the best, BUT only if taken as Siddartha Gautama preached it. Specifically: Have neither too much nor too little. Siddartha never claimed to be a God. His followers made him into one of those.

One man/woman gets a great idea and there will certainly be followers who will attempt to capitalize on it for both money and power.

I agree.. Lord Acton said "Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely." A civil society can only exist if enough citizens are alert to, and take action against, the accrual of power by any entity. This proposed march is one expression of citizen action. Whether some participants choose to pray or not should not detract from the main goal viz. opposing the unwarranted power grab by this government.

I'll give you a little assignment if your up to it.
Purchase Ayn Rand's "The Vitue of Sefishness" $7 - $8. It is a collection of non-fiction essays. The first essay: "The Objectivists Ethics" pretty much sums up all of what goes on here....25 pages.

I agree. One of the major concerns I have is that religious fundamentalists will try to establish a theocracy and wipe out religious freedom.

Would you care to point out just where you see that he wants to establish a religious theocracy? Now I hear where all those who claim to be atheists wanting to suppress our right to worship as we see fit and to pray that the government corrects it's course, but nobody has said that you must worship as we say you should.

Talk about having a chip on your shoulder.

You are worried that religious people here in the United States would attempt to destroy the freedom of religion? Strange, I did not think you were a conspiracy buff.

I don't see why including a prayer in the event is threatening. Unless you have some knowledge that the organizers want to pray to eradicate natural rights, which I find highly unlikely. If anything, the push is for more protection of freedoms and increased liberty as opposed to slavery.

As a retired nco and current fed, I agree that legal actions need to occur, but insurrection is not the path. If this occurs the entire world economy will crash. I am against most of what the POTUS says and does but we must do things with a careful but deliberate way to keep from turning over the apple cart to dump one or two bad apples.

As a former infantry officer I agree. It's like the Claire Wolfe quote: America is at that awkward stage where we cannot change the system from within but it's too early to shoot the bastards. [not exact quote]

Any guess as to whom this Major General thinks should be the new George Washington? lol

I'm getting to like you a little bit. ;) All military personell are trained to take the next level of "command". If I were not to try to envision myself in the next "position" I would never be prepared if the situation arose.

I will say thank you for the benefit we all received by your choice to live your values through a career in the military. I would just say thank you for your service but since this is an AR site, I thought I would be more explicit. Here is what AR said to the West Point class of 1974 in gratitude for their service:

"You have chosen to risk your lives for the defense of this country. I will not insult you by saying that you are dedicated to selfless service — it is not a virtue in my morality. In my morality, the defense of one's country means that a man is personally unwilling to live as the conquered slave of any enemy, foreign or domestic. This is an enormous virtue. Some of you may not be consciously aware of it. I want to help you to realize it."

"The army of a free country has a great responsibility: the right to use force, but not as an instrument of compulsion and brute conquest — as the armies of other countries have done in their histories — only as an instrument of a free nation's self-defense, which means: the defense of a man's individual rights. The principle of using force only in retaliation against those who initiate its use, is the principle of subordinating might to right. The highest integrity and sense of honor are required for such a task. No other army in the world has achieved it. You have."

--- Ayn Rand, Philosophy: Who Needs It?, Speech at West Point, NY, March 6, 1974

Thank you for this post. Having neither gone to WP or having read that book (yet) I was not aware that she had addressed WP.

As for content, all I can do is to say thank you on behalf of all my comrades and myself. It was my great honor to serve in two wars, four foreign countries, I made 28 training jumps and 1 combat jump into Grenada, leading a bunch of the best men I'll ever know and then I worked fielding the MLRS system in Germany until I suffered the accident that confined me to this wheelchair.

Through it all I truly found that our nation was worth any personal sacrifice except for my honor. In all my service that was the one thing I would never surrender.

We have more than "one or two bad apples" to dump. Half of the country is on "benefits" - welfare, permanent unemployment, "disability," food stamps, etc. These are parasites who needed to be "dumped" a long time ago. The longer we wait, the worse it'll get and the more difficult it will be to re-build.

Social security is a benefit you paid for, the issue is after we paid a lifetime into the system should someone be able to Immigrate to the US and after paying into the system for a minimum amount of time receive the same benefits that we paid into for 40 plus years? I say no, the question is we need to stop the abuse of our system by foreign visitors, do you think you get the same care in the Bahamas? No, then consider the medicare fraud committed by the Russian embassy staff. NYC paid them benefits because they said the children are US Citizens when the INA clearly says children born to persons under diplomatic status are NOT Us Citizens at birth! this is a really big issue as well.

All true, but a drop in the bucket compared to half of the country not working and living on "benefits" and much of the working people producing nothing of value - welfare management, EPA, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Propaganda, foreign "aid" so that Pakistanis will love us, and I can go on all the way to a $17T debt... I have no doubt that this system will collapse; its just a question of when and what will it turn into afterwards. Historically, such collapses did not lead to more freedom or civility. Most likely, neither will this one. America is not composed of the same people that have built it originally. Those were select people from around the world that valued freedom, opportunity and had personal responsibility. Today's Americans, for the most part, are a product of socialist degeneration, incapable of independent anything, whether action or thought, and who rely on the Big Brother for all their basic needs, wants and desires.
